The Squid Dueltrack
St. Louis, Missouri

Built in 2038, the Squid was designed by Lt. Col. Jeff Stevens (later found out to be as an ASP terrorist) of the MADD AADA chapter located in Springfield, Missouri. The 2039 Midwest Regional was held at the Squid with memorable results. Part of the L'Outrance Circuit, the Squid is known for its head-to-head dueling and racing. Open April to October, dueling and racing hold equal prestige and scheduling.

Dueltrack Features:
The Squid is paved, with no inner walls along the track. Outer walls have 50 DP and gates have 20 DP. The gates open when rammed. Originally the Squid had fixed position jumps, but that was changed after the 2039 Regional. Now the jumps can be raised or lowered before events, from 0 to 45 degrees. Typically the jumps are set either at 0, 30, or 45 degrees for events that call for jumps. The track is unbanked and tight on the upper hairpin turn.
Most races and duels employ a standing start. The first to reach the finish line while completing a lap wins. Overall track length is .15 miles.
A run-off area was added between the two start/finish lines for those racers unable to slow down in time after completing a race. This feature is also used for multilap events, which are a rarity at this dueltrack.
The infield area is grass and is hazardous to cross at high speeds. The grandstands can hold 5,000 people, and the highest priced seats are located near the jump landing zones. Having said this, the insurance coverage for those prime seats are high.

Special Events:
Average duel/race - Whether a race or duel, the event is in this fashion: from one start line to the other, with or without jumps. Usually two equal fields start, one from each start line. In dueling events dropped weapons are allowed and often encouraged. For racing dropped weapons are usually banned, but often permitted to spice things up. Either way the track tends to get dirty really quick.

Multi-lap Racing - No jumps on average, no dropped weapons, turrets, EWPs, and temporary speed boosters. Five laps is the usual limit. Prestige is doubled.
