The arena was originally planned to be built in 2043, but due to a legal
battle with the Iowa Motor Safety Association (IMSA) it was not completed
until 2050. Playland is Iowa's first arena, opening up a new era of dueling
in the state. Some duelists have nicknamed the arean "the sandbox" due
to its sand and gravel floor.
Paramutual betting is allowed on the arena grounds
and attending amusement part. The Playland Speedway is nearby. The arena
itself is part of the Flashfire Curcuit.
Arena Features:
The floor is covered in sand and gravel, making it an off-road surface.
The outer and inner walls are 15 feet high and have 80 DP. For the ten
ramps they are angled at 22 degrees. On the ground level there are two
jumps, angled at 30 degrees, enabling duelists to jump over the lower level.
Grandstand seating is 10,000.
The first level is at ground level. Second level
is 15 feet above the first and run along the outer walls. The third level
is 15 feet below the first level and is in the center part of the arena.
Gates are 12 feet high and have 10 DP. Four gates
open on the upper level as well as the middle level. Two gates open on
the lower level, making for a total of 10 gates.
Arena Slang:
Basement (Pit) - The third (lower level) level of the arena.
Arena Schedule:
Monday - Closed.
Tuesday - Practice Sessions.
Wednesday - Team Night.
Thursday - Amateur Night.
Friday - AADA Divisionals.

Sunday - Challenge Night.
Special Events:
Leveling Out - Six or twelve duelists fight in this event, divided
evenly between the three levels. When only one duelist remains on each
level the survivors are then allowed to move between levels to finish the
fight. The winner gets $100,000. Held four times a year, and prestige is
doubled.
Up, Down, and all Around - In this event a duelist must do a lap on the upper level, go down to the lower level, and then back up to the upper level for another lap. Any duelist that does this twice wins. Prestige is tripled.
Saturday Team Events - Two or four teams can duel at once, with one pair starting on the upper level and the second in the lower level. The ground floor 'middle' level can be used by both, but teams cannot use their opponents starting level. This can lead to some interesting fights.
