Hawk gear combines the abilities of a car and an airplane, making it similar to the grasshopper modifications. It comprises a mid-size, sedan, or luxury that has been modified to accommodate telescoping wings, tail assembly and a propeller. Wing DP is 12 and propeller DP is 4. No weapons can be mounted in the wings, and "Hawks" may not have turrets or top-mounted weapons. The only exception is a bottom-mounted retractable turret.
Wing extension takes a full turn to activate, during which time the side panels slide back and the wings telescope out to full length. It then takes three turns to wind up the propeller. The vehicle may take off once proper speed is reached. Its maximum speed and acceleration are determined by the car rules. "Hawks" use helicopter power plants; mini and small.
Driver skill is used while the Hawk is on the ground, and Pilot skill is used when it is in the air. Aerial HC is 2, ground HC is by suspension type. The wings are targeted at a +2 from the top or bottom, and a -1 from the sides. The propeller is targeted at a -4, and the tail assembly is targeted at a -2. Hawks may use heavy-lift or STOL wings, wing armor, maneuver foils, jet engines and rocket engines.
