Sedans were a very popular vehicle style in the late 20th Century. They were re-introduced to the duelling public several years ago. Since then, Sedans have grown in pouplarity to become the second most-favorite vehicle style (after luxuries).
SPY HUNTER
This vehicle is a modern version of one of the most famous designs
in duelling history. In 2010, the U.S Department of Energy ordered 200
of these vehicles for use as extra security at its high-value installations.
50 others were ordered by certain "other" government agencies to escort
their high-ranking personnel. The order was completed on the eve of the
Short War in 2011. Many Spy Hunters were destroyed in the chaos which followed.
The design which follows is a reconstruction of a wreck which was purchased
by DKI at a sale of government surplus.
Spy Hunter: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, sport power plant w/ upgrades, 4 FPPR radial tires, driver, 2 MGs w/ HD ammo linked F, 3 HSLRSAMs linked T, OJ w/ 1 extra magazine B, 1 HsD (U), HrSwc, 5 laser-reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) linked to HsD, radar, light amplification, telescopic optics, IR shielding, FPRP Armor: F50, B40, R45, L45, T20, U15. Acceleration: 10, HC: 4, Top Speed: 130 mph, 6,120 lbs, $59,445.
CAN OPENER
The DKI Can Opener is a Division-15 car named for its ability to peel
open metal-armored vehicles as easily as someone opening a can of soup.
The rear-mounted HDSS is used to obscure the vision of anyone trying to
attack it. The Can Opener's main liabilities are light armor and unprotected
tires.
Can Opener: Sedan, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 RRs w/ HESH ammo linked F, HDSS (U), Swc, weapon link (HDSS/RRs), 10 pts CA on driver, Sloped Armor: F45 B35 R40, L40, T12, U12. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 100 mph, 5,573 lbs, $14,994.
BOUT
The Bout first appeared several years ago when it was used in a NOVA
Duelling Championship by Steven M. Essex of Essex Duelcars. The Bout is
well-armored and heavily armed. It is designed to attack other vehicles
just as they enter the arena. The wire-guided missiles are backed up by
a turreted RL which is used for follow-up shots. Tailgaters and users of
laser-guided weaponry are discouraged by a pair of concealed light flamethrowers,
a concealed MFRP, a concealed SD w/ explosive spikes and six smoke dischargers
attached to a laser-reactive web. This vehicle has very thin bottom armor,
so try to get in front (after the missiles have been fired) and use mines.
Bout: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 WGMs linked F, turreted RL, 2 LFTs w/ blow-through concealment (1 R, 1 L), SD w/ explosive spikes B, MFRP (B), 6 smoke dischargers (1 F, 1 B, 2 R, 2 L), Swc, 4 laser-reactive webs (F, B, R, L) linked to smoke dischargers, blow-through concealment for SD & MFRP, Armor: F47, B42, R42, L42, T18, U1. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,113 lbs, $19,756.
HALLOO
When Essex Duelcars introduced this car in 2042, they took the unusual
step of placing an FCGS in a turret. This gave the driver the ability to
throw the gas in whatever direction he wanted. This vehicle's offensive
power is provided by a front-mounted VFRP with an extra magazine. The Halloo's
agility allows the driver to dance around the arena, leaving destruction
wherever he goes.
Halloo: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 PR radial tires, driver, turreted FCGS w/ 3 extra magazines, VFRP w/ 1 extra magazine F, FcD (B), HrSwc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F45, B40, R40, L40, T20, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 90 mph, 6,120 lbs, $22,710.
HAILSTORM
The DKI Hailstorm is a Division-25 vehicle equipped for ice duelling.
It has good handling, decent armor and an accurate weapons system. The
Hailstorm has no outstanding weaknesses.
Hailstorm: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, ice-racing suspension, large power plant w/ upgrades, 2 light skates F, 2 PR ice tires B, driver, BC w/ HESH ammo F, HDSS w/ hot smoke B, HrSwc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F55, B45, R50, L50, T16, U12. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 97.5 mph, 6,112 lbs, $24,214.
JUNK MASTER
The Junk Master is an effective Division-20 design with accurate firepower
and decent armor. This vehicle keeps costs down by using junk droppers
instead of the customary spikedroppers or mine droppers.
Junk Master: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR radial tires, driver, AC w/ 1 extra magazine F, 2 linked JDs w/ 1 extra magazine each (1 R, 1 B), Swc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, 10 pts FPCA on driver, Sloped Armor: F47, B45, R40, L40, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,113 lbs, $19,707.
SALAMANDER
According to legend, a salamander was a mythical creature that lived
in the middle of fires. This creature's fire-resistant qualities were kept
in mind by the engineers at DKI/New Omaha when they designed the Division-20
Salamander. This decently-armored vehicle has protected tires, and is a
nightmare for any duellist without a fire extinguisher.
Salamander: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 FPPR tires, driver, 2 FTs w/ HT ammo linked B, HDFOJ (U), 2 10-pt FP wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt FP wheelguards B, FP Armor: F45, B45, R40, L40, T10, U11. Acceleration: 5, HC; 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,119 lbs, $19,813.
RAMROD V
This vehicle is the latest installment in the popular series of dedicated
ram cars from DKI/New Omaha. The secondary purpose of the Ramrod V is to
send anyone colliding with it spinning out of control due to the massive
hazards inflicted by the bumper-triggered dischargers & MFRPs. Even
though the Ramrod V's armor is lighter than on any other vehicle in the
series, this vehicle is still dangerously effective.
Ramrod V: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 solid tires, driver, 2 MFRPs w/ bumper triggers linked F, 2 FCDs (1 R, 1 L) linked to MFRPs, 2 FODs (1 R, 1 L) linked to MFRPs, roll cage, safety seat, HD shocks, HD brakes, anti-lock braking system, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, 10 pts FPCA on driver, 10 pts FPCA on power plant, Sloped Armor: F60 (ram plate), B40, R45, L45, T7, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,118 lbs, $19,727.
BUCKHORN
The design principles used in the Bighorn were incorporated into the
Buckhorn. This vehicle is a true ram car in every sense of the word. It
is less heavily-armored than the Bighorn, and it is only marginally faster.
Where the Buckhorn comes into its own is in acceleration, handling and
the protection given to its tires.
Buckhorn: Streamlined sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, blueprinted 150 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger, supercharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 radial solid tires, driver, HDFOJ (U), 1 tank nitrous oxide, roll cage, safety seat, HD shocks, 10 pts FPCA on driver, 10 pts FPCA on engine, FP insulator on gas tank, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F80 (ram plate), B60, R45, L45, T8, U10. Acceleration: 20, HC: 4, Top Speed: 95 mph, Base MPG: 44, 6,117 lbs, $33,046.
GRAND ARTISTE
When an Artiste isn't enough, a Grand Artiste is the next logical step.
This vehicle trades a small amount of armor and top speed for an increase
in weapon accuracy and a better ability to send those tailgating art critics
to perdition.
Grand Artiste: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ upgrades, 4 solid tires, driver, AC (F), 2 linked PSs (1 R, 1 L), SD w/ explosive spikes B, MFRP (B) linked to SD, Swc, bumper trigger (MFRP), blow-through concealment (SD & MFRP), tinted/no-paint windows, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F50, B50, R45, L45, T10, U12. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 97.5 mph, 6,113 lbs, $24,398.
DRAGONET
The Dragonet is a smaller version of the Division-60 Royal Dragon.
This vehicle's side-mounted flechette guns make it a serious threat to
pedestrians and tires alike.
Dragonet: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 solid tires, driver & gunner, 2 medium lasers linked F, 2 FGs (1 R, 1 L), SS w/ tear gas B, Swc (lasers), targeting computer (FGs), 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelgaurds B, Armor: F45, B35, R40, L40, T12, U15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,118 lbs, $25,916.
BARONET
The Baronet is a popular seller where ammunition is scarce and the
technology is low. This vehicle's systems are simple and reliable enough
so that anyone with a portable tool kit can keep it in fighting trim. The
Baronet's armor is sufficient for average street fights, and the tires
are protected. The best tactic to use against the Baronet is to remain
outside the effective range of the VFRP and pick it to pieces.
Baronet: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 solid tires, driver, VFRP w/ extra magazine F, 2 turreted MGs, hi-res computer, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F40, B30, R35, L35, T32, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,113 lbs, $23,504.
JACK OF TACKS
The Jack of Tacks is a well-balanced Division-20 vehicle from Amex.
It is named for its ability to scatter hundreds of spikes all over the
arena floor. It is also well-armed, having a front-mounted blast cannon
with an extra magazine. Tire shots against the JoT are virtually useless
because of the wheel hubs and wheelguards.
Jack of Tacks: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 SBPR tires, driver, BC w/ extra magazine F, 3 linked SDs w/ explosive spikes (1 R, 1 L, 1 B), FOD (B), Swc, weapon link (BC/SDs), 10 pts CA on driver, 4 5-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Armor: F50, B50, R40, L40, T10, U15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,120 lbs, $19,590.
GRINDER
There's nothing flashy about this machine. The HVMG can kill almost
any vehicle on the road, and the SD can quickly convince pursuers to go
elsewhere. On the defensive side, the Grinder has heavily-protected tires
and heavy front armor. Its only real weakness is relatively light side
and back armor.
Grinder: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 SB solid tires, driver, HVMG w/ extra magazine (F), SD w/ incendiary spikes B, HrSwc, weapon link (HVMG/SD), safety seat, HD shocks, 10 pts CA on driver, 10 pts CA on power plant, 4 10-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F61, B33, R39, L39, T10, U15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,118 lbs, $26,901.
RANGE MANAGER
The Range Manager is intended for those off-road duellists who prefer
to work under cover of darkness. The effectiveness of its weapons package
is multiplied several times by the sloped FPRP armor and the inclusion
of a radar jammer/radar detector combination.
Range Manager: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 OR solid tires, driver, AC w/ extra magazine F (all ammo is HD), SD w/ incendiary spikes B, FCD (B), Swc, 2 bumper triggers (1 F, 1 B), radar, radar detector linked to radar jammer, LD radio, roll cage, safety seat, brushcutter, tinted/no-paint windows, HD brakes, Sloped FPRP Armor: F47, B35, R35, L35, T10, U20. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 O/R), Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,118 lbs, $48,865.
CLUNKER
As a "tail-end charlie", the Division-15 Clunker is just as effective
as vehicles costing 2-3 times as much. A Clunker driver can also take care
of himself in a straight-up slugging match by using the incendiary-loaded
RL to set his opponents on fire. Defensively, the Clunker has decent armor
and well-protected tires.
Clunker: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 SBPR tires, driver, RL w/ extra magazine F (all ammo is incendiary), 5 linked JDs (1 R, 1 L, 1 B, 2 rear-corner mounted R & L), Swc, 10 pts CA on driver, spoiler & airdam, 4 5-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Armor: F55, B35, R30, L30, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 at 60 mph+), Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,100 lbs, $13,910.
BARBETTE BELLE
This unusual design makes full use of the targeting flexibility afforded
by sponson turrets. There are no dead spots in the Barbette Belle's arcs
of fire. The forward arc is particularly dangerous because the two front-mounted
MMLs are loaded with incendiary rockets. Good hubs and guards on all four
tires make them less than attractive targets.
Barbette Belle: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 SBPR tires, driver, 2 MMLs w/ incendiary ammo linked F, 2 MMLs in universal turret, 2 MMLs in sponson turrets (1 R, 1 L), MML (B), targeting computer, 4 smart links, 4 5-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F45, B31, R31, L31, T26, U15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,116 lbs, $24,303.
SIDEWALL
The Sidewall resembles almost any other sedan seen on the road or in
the arena. It seems to be more of a threat than it actually is, because
of the fake weapons and the front-mounted HMG. This vehicle's real firepower
comes from four concealed MFRPs. A Sidewall driver's favorite tactic is
to sideswipe opposing vehicles and simultaneously trigger the MFRPs on
that side. If the enemy hasn't been destroyed, the massive hazards from
the collision and the rocket impacts will send him spinning out of control.
Sidewall: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 SBPR tires, driver, HMG w/ HD ammo F, 4 MFRPs w/ AP rockets (2 R, 2 L), targeting computer, fake weapons F & B, blow-through concealment for MFRPs, 2 weapon links (paired MFRPs), Armor: F49, B49, R49, L49, T9, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,115 lbs, $17,820.
BUMPER-TO-BUMPER
The Amex Bumper-to-Bumper provides lethal firepower and decent armor
at an affordable price. The three incendiary HRs can be used to soften
up an opponent and/or set him on fire, or saved to kill targets already
damaged by the HMG.
Bumper-to-Bumper: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 SBPR tires, driver, HMG w/ HD ammo F, 3 incendiary HRs linked F, OJ (B), smoke MR (B), targeting computer, bumper trigger (HMG), bumper spikes (F), Sloped Armor: F70, B42, R42, L42, T12, U12. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,100 lbs, $16,686.
BLASTFIGHTER SERIES
Originally designed and produced by Radius Motors, the BlastFighter
is now produced by Blaster Motors. It is one of the most widely-produced
cars in the world, with more than 300 different versions available in several
different countries. A wide variety of models is available, ranging from
amphibians and grasshoppers to police cruisers and military vehicles. Dave
Fletcher (CEO of Blaster Motors) once commented "I'd still like to build
a BlastFighter that can go into space, or put one on the Moon or Mars for
some astronaut to use. Unfortunately, we don't have the technology to do
this yet".
The BlastFighter is famous for its heavy armor and good firepower. However, it is still vulnerable to ramming attacks. Even so, it has terrorized the arena, defeating such famous designs as the Grand Slam and the Navigator on numerous occasions. The following designs are some of the more notable of the BlastFighter series.

RUDOLPH
The Rudolph is a custom design available from Amex Combat Autoworks.
It is an interesting entry for any arena duel. The heavy laser should be
avoided if at all possible. This vehicle's heavy armor and lethal firepower
give opponents little choice other than to attack the sides.
Rudolph: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant
w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, PHL (F), SD w/ extra magazine (right-rear corner
mounted), Swc, weapon link (PHL/SD), blow-through concealment for PHL,
10 pts CA on driver, 10 pts CA on PHL, Sloped Armor: F53, B50, R50, L50,
T5, U5. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,117 lbs, $29,318.
Option: Remove PHL. Add XL and 28 points armor. Upgrade Swc
to HrSwc. +2 lbs, -$446.
GAUNTLET
In times past, "running the gauntlet" was a form of punishment which
consisted of running between two lines of men who would attack you with
clubs as you went past. Modern duellists can now punish their opponents
in the same manner with the Gauntlet, available from DKI/New Omaha. The
Gauntlet's most noteworthy feature is its use of flame-cloud chemical mines.
This unpleasant type of ammunition allows the minedropper to damage every
side of an opposing vehicle. In combination with the explosive spikes,
the flame-cloud mines can almost certainly ruin an enemy's tires.
Gauntlet: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 solid tires, driver, 2 VMGs linked F, MD w/ extra magazine B (all mines are proximity-fuzed flame cloud), SD w/ extra magazine R (all spikes are explosive), Swc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F45, B35, R40, L40, T8, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,117 lbs, $23,324.
Division-30 option: Remove linked VMGs. Add AC w/ extra magazine F. Upgrade Swc to HrSwc and add 20 points armor. +$4,960, -5 lbs.
BADGER
The Badger is renowned as one of the most vicious animals in nature.
This same ferocity gave DKI/New Omaha's latest off-road sedan its name.
This four-wheeled animal has sharp claws, a nasty bite and thick skin.
Attacking this particular Badger is not recommended.
Badger: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, O/R suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 PROR tires, driver, 2 HMGs linked F, turreted GL w/ impact-fuzed grenades, FOJ (B), targeting computer, retractable brushcutter, bumper spikes (F & B), 4 10-pt wheel hubs, Sloped Armor: F45, B40, R30, L30, T29, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 O/R), Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,116 lbs, $23,226.
SCYTHE
The Scythe is named after the weapon carried by Death. Although the
Scythe's driver can go through crowds of pedestrians like the destroying
angel, this vehicle is handicapped against heavily-armed duelling cars.
Scythe: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 solid tires, driver, 2 turreted MGs w/ anti-personnel ammo, SS w/ extra magazine B (all ammo is tear gas), Swc, 2 retractable brush cutters (1 R, 1 L), bumper spikes (F & B), 10 pts CA on driver, 4 10-pt wheel hubs, Sloped Armor: F50, B45, R40, L40, T35, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,110 lbs, $22,104.
EXECUTOR
The DKI Executor is a tough design with superb handling, high acceleration
and a top speed which is more than 33% higher than comparable electric-powered
vehicles. It also has a cruising range of nearly 300 miles. The Executor
is not a desireable opponent.
Executor: Sedan w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy/active suspension, blueprinted 350 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 15-gallon duelling tank, 4 PR radial tires, driver, 2 HMGs linked F, FCE w/ extra magazine B, HrSwc, spoiler & airdam, 10 pts FPCA on driver, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F65, B60, R55, L55, T8, U9. Acceleration: 20, HC: 5 (6 at 60 mph+), Top Speed: 127.5 mph, Base MPG: 18, 6,113 lbs, $51,601.
SLAYER II
DKI engineers designed this vehicle as a successor to the Slayer (introduced
by Imperial Motors in 2040). Heavier armor, better handling and a more
powerful weapon make it a more effective fighting machine than its predecessor.
Slayer II: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, HXL (F), laser battery, Swc, 10 pts CA on driver, 2 5-pt wheel hubs F, 2 5-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F40, B30, R30, L30, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,020 lbs, $29,920.
MANGLER
The Mangler is designed to shred incautious cyclists and pedestrians
into bloody messes, then tidy up afterwards by roasting the leftovers with
flaming oil. This vehicle's ferocious appearance is highly useful in crowd-control
operations.
Mangler: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, turreted GL w/ impact-fuzed grenades, 1 extra magazine (impact-fuzed concussion grenades), 2 FGs (1 R, 1 L), 2 FOJs (1 R, 1 L) linked to FGs, targeting computer, body blades, bumper spikes (F), 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F55, B50, R40, L40, T30, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 6,117 lbs, $19,354.
DOUBLE JEOPARDY
This vehicle is named for the danger it presents to the tires of anyone
who follows it too closely. Enemy duellists who maneuver for shots against
the DJ's rear armor will see their handling suffer further insult as the
driver triggers the MFRP and linked HDFOJ.
Double Jeopardy: Sedan, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large
power plant w/ PCs, 4 solid tires, driver, AC w/ extra magazine F, MFRP
(B), HDFOJ (B) linked to MFRP, targeting computer, blow-through concealment
for MFRP & HDFOJ, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor:
F55, B40, R45, L45, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph,
6,080 lbs, $23,009.
