Mid-sizes are the true work-horses of the arena. They have the space and weight capacity which allows for truly flexible designs. Mid-size cars have won many championships, and there are hundreds of customized versions on the road. Think twice before engaging one.
ROAD AGENT
The Road Agent is designed as a short-range courier. It has an accurate
weapon system and protected tires. It is usually accompanied by 2-3 escort
vehicles. The "Q" version is especially dangerous because the laser is
concealed behind a fake VMG.
Road Agent: Streamlined mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension,
large power plant w/ upgrades, 4 PR radial tires, driver, turreted VMG
w/ rotary mazaine (10 shots HD/10 shots explosive), HrSwc, radar, small
mini-safe, tinted/no-paint windows, HD shocks, HD brakes, anti-lock braking
system, safety seat, 2 5-pt wheel hubs F, 2 5-pt wheelguards B, 10 pts
CA on driver, Sloped Armor: F50 (ram plate), B35, R45, L45, T25, U10. Acceleration:
5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 112.5 mph, 5,715 lbs, $28,419.
Cargo Capacity: 45 lbs, 1/2 space (in cargo safe)
Road Agent "Q": Remove VMG & component armor. Add pulse laser & fake weapon (VMG) in turret, laser battery to power plant.+$8,600 to cost, -10 lbs from cargo capacity.
FORTRESS
If ever a car design lived up to its name, the Fortress is it. The
Fortress is undoubtedly the most heavily-armored car ever built. It is
armed with a forward-mounted laser that makes trying to wear it down a
decidedly unhealthy proposition. This vehicle's only weakness is a lack
of dropped weapons.
Fortress: Mid-size w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, blueprinted 150 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 PR radial tires, driver, laser F, FOD (B), HrSwc, laser battery, 10 pts FPCA on driver, 10 pts FPCA on engine, FP insulator on gas tank, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F100, B90, R85, L85, T23, U20. Acceleration: 10, HC: 4, Top Speed: 75 mph, Base MPG: 45, 5,759 lbs, $39,143.
Ironclad option: Change armor placement to F15/30, B14/25, R12/20,
L12/20, T0/28, U0/15.
-$2,332 from price, no weight change.
FORTALICE
The Fortalice is a Division-25 vehicle which was designed using the
Fortress as a template. It trades some armor, speed and handling for a
more powerful weapon. Unfortunately, the Fortalice still lacks dropped
weaponry.
Fortalice: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, 200 CI gas engine w/ 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 solid tires, driver, BC w/ HESH ammo linked F, 2 FCDs (1 R, 1 L), 2 FODs (U), HrSwc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F80, B70, R65, L65, T8, U8. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 72.5 mph, Base MPG: 35, 5,758 lbs, $24,429.
AUTO-FIGHTER
This interesting vehicle from Radius Motors uses an autocannon and
a spikedropper instead of the customary blast cannon and dropped-liquid
weapons which are standard equipment on its famous BlastFighter design.
The combination of wheelguards and heavy composite armor make the Auto
Fighter a difficult target from any angle. If this vehicle has a weakness,
it is the lack of agility caused by the wheelguards.
Auto Fighter: Mid-size w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ upgrades, 4 solid tires, driver, AC (F), SD w/ explosive spikes B, Swc, bumper trigger (F), HD brakes, tinted windows, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Composite Armor: F20/50, B0/50, R0/50, L0/50, T0/31, U0/15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 102.5 mph, 5,753 lbs, $28,710.
X-FIGHTER
Introduced by Radius Motors, the well-armored X-Fighter is a nimble
interpretation of the "fighter" design concept. It is armed with a front-mounted
X-ray laser and defended by a "suprise package" array of dropped weapons.
Since the X-Fighter's tires are unprotected, they are the preferred point
of attack against it
X-Fighter: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 PR radial tires, driver, XL (F), OJ & SS linked B, HrSwc, Armor: F55, B45, R50, L50, T30, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, 5,710 lbs, $28,340.
Option: Replace SS & OJ w/ 2 linked SDs (1 R, 1 B) loaded w/ explosive spikes. +$350, no weight change.
COUNTERACT
The Counteract was Essex Duelcars' answer to the Radius Motors BlastFighter.
Like the BlastFighter, the Counteract is armed with a front-mounted blast
cannon. However, it trades the dropped-liquid weapons for a concealed pair
of MFRPs. The tires are well-protected and the spoiler/airdam combination
gives the Counteract excellent maneuverability. The top & bottom armor
is unusually thin, making this vehicle vulnerable to mines and top shots.
Counteract: Mid-size w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy supension, 150 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers & 5-gallon racing tank, 4 solid tires, driver, BC w/ HESH ammo F, 2 MFRPs linked B, Swc, blow-through concealment for MFRPs, spoiler & airdam, 4 10-pt wheel hubs, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Composite Armor: F25/46, B0/46, R0/46, L0/46, T0/1, U0/1. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 60 mph, Base MPG: 45, 5,760 lbs, $29,228.
COUNTERACT SD
The Counteract SD is an improved version of the original Counteract.
It trades one of the MFRPs for a pair of spikedroppers with explosive loads.
The tires are now fully-protected.
Counteract SD: Mid-size w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, 150 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers & 5-gallon racing tank, 4 solid tires, driver, BC w/ HESH ammo F, 2 linked SDs w/ explosive spikes (1 R, 1 B), MFRP (B), Swc, spoiler & airdam, 4 10-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Composite Armor: F25/46, B0/46, R0/46, L0/46, T0/1, U0/1. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 60 mph, Base MPG: 45, 5,730 lbs, $30,000.
TEEN SPIRIT
This vehicle is based on the chassis and ideas of the original Counteract.
The BC of the original has been exchanged for a turreted VMG with an extra
magazine, giving the Teen Spirit the ability to strike targets in any direction.
As an added bonus, a magazine switch allows the driver to toggle between
explosive and incendiary ammunition. The Swc has been replaced with an
HrSwc, and the concealed MFRPs have been retained.
Teen Spirit: Mid-size w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, 150 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers & 5-gallon racing tank, 4 PR radial tires, driver, turreted VMG w/ explosive ammo, 1 extra magazine (incendiary ammo), 2 MFRPs linked B, HrSwc, magazine switch, blow-through concealment for MFRPs, 4 5-pt wheel hubs, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Composite Armor: F25/46, B5/30, R5/30, L5/30, T6/23, U0/10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 60 mph, Base MPG: 45, 5,759 lbs, $29,782.
ROUNDABOUT SPECIAL 30K
This design was used by S.A.S/Zebra in their second challenge match
with NOVA. It is well-armored, and its weaponry allows for a high degree
of tactical flexibility.
Roundabout Special 30K: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy/active suspension, large power plant, 4 PR tires, driver, AC (F), turreted RL, SS (B), hi-res computer, anti-lock braking system, overdrive, Armor: F45 (ram plate), B40, R40, L40, T20, U20. Acceleration: 5 (2.5 w/ OD), HC: 4, Top Speed: 95 mph (115 mph w/ OD), 5,535 lbs, $29,300.
GRENDEL K
The Grendel K is a general-use Division-15 vehicle originally designed
by S.A.S/Zebra. It is now in production by several different manufacturers.
The primary advantages of this design are the good acceleration and high
top speed.
Grendel K: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, super power plant, 4 HD tires, driver, turreted RR w/ HESH ammo, 1 extra magazine (HESH), HrSwc, Sloped Armor: F50, B40, R45, L45, T41, U10. Acceleration: 10, HC: 3, Top Speed: 125 mph, 5,230 lbs, $14,965.
CLAYMORE
This modern-day incarnation of the legendary Scottish sword takes the
form of a Division-20 mid-size. It is the result of a design partnership
between Matt Schuler and the well-known duellist Recoilless Ranger. This
vehicle's armor enables its driver to laugh at most kinds of lasers, and
the rotary magazine allows the grenade launcher to plant a variety of ordnance
wherever the driver wants (including the tops of other cars).
Claymore: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 PR radial tires, driver, BC (F), GL w/ rotary magazine T, targeting computer, HD shocks, LR Armor: F49, B45, R49, L49, T15, T20. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,758 lbs, $18,895.
ROUNDOUT
The Roundout is armed with a turreted recoilless rifle, giving the
driver dependable, accurate firepower. The two extra magazines allow him
to stay in the fight longer, and the dropped weapons keep those annoying
tailgaters at arm's length. This vehicle has often been used as a riot-breaker
(because of the tear-gas load in the smokescreen).
Roundout: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 solid tires, driver, turreted RR, 2 extra magazines (1 HESH, 1 HEAT), SD w/ explosive spikes B, SS w/ tear gas B, HrSwc, weapon link (SD/SS), Armor: F70, B50, R45, L45, T25, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,756 lbs, $18,460.
MAMBA
The Mamba is a capable Division-20 vehicle which combines excellent
handling, heavy armor and versatile firepower.

Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,710 lbs, $19,238.
Division-30 Option: Add IrTl w/ Lgl to turret. Make all rockets laser-guided. +$8,550, +50 lbs.
ICE DEVIL
The Ice Devil is designed for the popular sport of winter autoduelling.
It is also a common sight in those regions where ice is present year-round.
The Ice Devil's heavy armor and solid, reliable weapons make it a tough
customer in any encounter.
Ice Devil: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, ice-racing suspension, large power plant w/ upgrades, 2 medium skates F, 2 PR ice tires B, driver, turreted VMG, MD w/ proximity-fuzed mines B, HrSwc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F60, B55, R50, L50, T32, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 102.5 mph, 5,756 lbs, $22,723.
CANNON
The Cannon is DKI/New Omaha's latest entry into the mid-size duelling
market. It is nothing more than a wheeled artillery piece for use in Division-25
duelling. The Cannon's heavy composite armor makes it invulnerable to frontal
attack. The use of paired ice/oil dischargers with bumper triggers makes
ramming attacks against this vehicle highly inadvisable. If possible, attack
the rear armor or the tires.
Cannon: Mid-size w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 solid tires, driver, ATG w/ HESH ammo F, 1 extra magazine w/ APFSDS ammo, 2 pairs linked ice/oil dischargers w/ bumper triggers (1 R, 1 L), HrSwc, magazine switch, Sloped Composite Armor: F20/50, B0/50, R0/60, L0/60, T0/10, U0/10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, $24,354.
Division-30 option: Remove ATG & extra magazine. Add AC w/ HD ammo, 1 extra magazine (incendiary ammo) & 6 points armor. +$5,482, no weight change.
RAMROD I/I-B
The Ramrod series duelling cars from DKI/New Omaha are unlike any other
ram cars ever designed in that they have been totally optimized for ram
combat. By concentrating on delivering ram attacks, these vehicles have
the room and the weight capacity for roll cages, HD shocks and component
armor on everything inside the car. A Ramrod can deliver an attack that
will destroy almost any other car on the road. The previously-mentioned
protective equipment also allows the driver to make multiple ramming attacks
and survive.
Ramrod I: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ upgrades, 4 PR radial tires, driver, roll cage, safety seat, HD shocks, 10 pts CA on driver, 10 pts CA on power plant, Sloped Armor: F100 (ram plate), B55, R40, L40, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 102.5 mph, 5,755 lbs, $17,978.
Ramrod I-B: Remove large power plant w/ upgrades. Add blueprinted 250 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank. Add FP insulator to gas tank and make all component armor fireproof. Sloped Armor: F100 (ram plate), B60, R55, L55, T15, U10. Acceleration: 15, Top Speed: 90 mph, Base MPG: 28, 5,755 lbs, $36,733.
SAND CRAWLER
The Sand Crawler is a general-purpose off-road vehicle with a small
cargo capacity (usually employed to store personal items). A turreted rocket
launcher provides dependable, all-around firepower.
Sand Crawler: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, O/R suspension, large
power plant w/ upgrades, 4 PROR tires, driver & gunner, turreted RL,
HrSwc, radar, roll cage, 2 safety seats, HD shocks, HD brakes, Armor: F50,
B50, R45, L45, T37, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 O/R), Top Speed: 105
mph, 5,676 llbs, $24,102.
Cargo Capacity: 1 space, 84 lbs.
HOPLITE
Until the coming of the Roman Legions, the Greek Hoplite was the best
soldier in the world. A Hoplite driver can rule the arena with his three
machineguns, or deny sections of it to the enemy by using his tire-killing
dropped weapons.
Hoplite: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 PR radial tires, driver, 3 MGs linked F, MD w/ proximity-fuzed mines B, SD w/ explosive spikes R, Swc, weapon link (MD/SD), 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F55, B45, R50, L50, T15, U14. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,757 lbs, $17,914.
WATCHMAN
The Watchman is designed to operate inside of such facilities as shopping
malls, warehouses and factories, hence the light weaponry. Though heavily-armored,
the Watchman is outclassed by most other duelling vehicles.
Watchman: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 PR radial tires, driver, 2 FGs linked F, turreted GL w/ impact-fuzed tear gas grenades, targeting computer, 4 10-pt wheel hubs, Sloped Armor: F55, B45, R50, L50, T34, U12. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,758 lbs, $16,980.
ARTISTE
This whimsical design recalls the bygone days when kids with cans of
spray paint were the bane of public works departments everywhere. The Artiste
allows medium-budget duellists to hang their tags anywhere they want while
fending off the unwanted attentions of the local art critics by firing
the HESH-loaded ATG or dropping some explosive spikes. The tires are protected
and the armor is adequate for most engagements with the slings and arrows
of outrageous fortune.
Artiste: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ upgrades, 4 solid tires, driver, ATG w/ HESH ammo F, 2 linked PSs (1 R, 1 L), SD w/ explosive spikes B, Swc, bumper trigger (SD), no-paint windows, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F55, B50, R45, L45, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 105 mph, 5,755 lbs, $17,590.
TROOPER
The Division-20 Trooper from DKI/New Omaha is an economical blend of
defensive ability and offensive firepower. It has no outstanding weaknesses.
Trooper: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 solid tires, driver, turreted RR w/ HESH ammo, 2 MGs linked F, FOJ (B), targeting computer, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F45, B45, R40, L40, T22, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,756 lbs, $18,482.
IT IS POSSIBLE
This vehicle was originally designed as a concept car by Amex Combat
Autoworks. They succeeded, taking a Division-10 duelling vehicle and giving
it the deadly firepower of a blast cannon. The IIP's armor is very light
(even for a Division-10 vehicle), but makes up for it with component armor
on the driver and the power plant.
It Is Possible: Mid-size, lt chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant, 4 HD tires, driver, BC (F), JD (B), IcD (B) linked to JD, weapon link (BC/JD), 10 pts CA on driver, 10 pts CA on power plant, Armor: F22, B14, R14, L14, T5, U5, Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,052 lbs, $9,991.
2046 BACK BASH
The Amex 2046 Back Bash is a decently-armored Division-25 ram car that
is more flexible than most (because of the turreted LMG and the HESH/HEAT
ammunition carried in the RRs). The driver has component armor, and the
no-paint windows enables him to ignore the effects of paint-based weaponry
(common in the lower divisions).
2046 Back Bash: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant,4 solid tires, driver, 2 RRs w/ rotary magazines linked F (5 shots HESH/5 shots HEAT in each), turreted LMG, FcD (B), targeting computer, 2 bumper triggers (1 F,1 B), no-paint windshield, HD brakes, 10 pts CA on driver, Armor: F40 (ram plate), B30, R32, L32, T24, U20. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,759 lbs, $20,358.
SCALDER
The drivers of this particular vehicle are notorious for using their
three front-mounted incendiary HRs to set opposing vehicles on fire, then
finishing them off with the HMG. Pursuing opponents are sent skidding into
the wall by the oil jet. The Scalder is tough to kill, especially from
the front.
Scalder: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 SBPR tires, driver, HMG w/ bumper trigger F, 3 incendiary HRs linked F, OJ (B), SkD (B), bumper spikes (F), Swc (to HMG), weapon link (HMG/OJ), Armor: F70, B46, R50, L50, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,758 lbs, $14,056.
BATTLE BRICK
The Amex Battle Brick is a heavily-armored Division-15 dueller than
can kill you coming and going. The best chance against this vehicle would
be to target the tires.
Battle Brick: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 RRs w/ 1 extra magazine each (1 F, 1 B), targeting computer, Armor: F65, B65, R55, L55, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,760 lbs, $14,560.
ROSCOE
The Roscoe is a favorite vehicle for drivers who don't like to stop
for minor annoyances like toll booths and roadblocks. The turreted RL (with
an extra magazine) provides dependable, sustained firepower, and the rear-mounted
GL discourages pursuers by destroying their tires. The Roscoe even has
enough room for substantial cargo (perfect for un-taxed cigarettes or bootleg
liquor).
Roscoe: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power
plant, 4 PR tires, driver, turreted RL w/ 1 extra magazine, GL w/ standard
grenades B, Armor: F60 (ram plate), B30, R35, L35, T25, U15. Acceleration:
5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,445 lbs, $14,040.
Cargo Capacity: 1 space, 315 lbs.
BEETLE
This design was one of a number of duelling vehicles which were used
by the Japanese Protectorate as patrol cars. Since the end of the war with
the Protectorate, large numbers of them have appeared on the war-surplus
market. The Beetle is a capable Division-30 off-road design that is a particular
threat to the tires on other cars. A Beetle driver's favorite tactic is
to lie in wait, then ambush passing vehicles.
Beetle: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, O/R suspension, large power plant, 4 SBOR solid tires, driver, 2 HMGs linked F, SMD w/ TDX mines B, Swc, infrared sighting system, safety seat, HD shocks, brushcutter, 10 pts CA on driver, Armor: F46, B30, R36, L36, T20, U20. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 O/R), Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,749 lbs, $25,908.
SIZZLER-10
The Sizzler-10 is a heavily-armored vehicle from Amex Combat Autoworks
whose twin, side-mounted FTs allow a driver to continuously circle an opponent
and fry him to a crisp. The Sizzler-10's driver can also discourage fireproof
pursuit by leaving spikes all over the road. In combat, avoid the left
side and try for the tires.
Sizzler-10: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ HD transmission, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 FTs linked L, SD (B), Pd (B), Armor: F50, B40, R45, L55, T10, U16. Acceleration: 2.5/5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 70 mph, 5,758 lbs, $9,846,
RUDOLPH
The heavily-armored Rudolph is Amex Combat Autoworks' answer to those
duellists who want a vehicle that is effective both as a front-line fighter
and a tail-end charlie. Engaging the Rudolph from the front or the back
is not recommended.
Rudolph: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 SBPR tires, driver, pulse laser (F), 2 linked SDs w/ 1 extra magazine each (1 R, 1 B), HrSwc, Armor: F60, B55, R60, L60, T5, U13. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,754 lbs, $24,998.
FIGHTBLASTER
Produced by Blaster Motors, this design is intended to compete in the
lower divisions (10-20). Though its armor isn't quite as heavy as the BlastFighter's,
the FightBlaster is still armed with a blast cannon. This makes it a lethal
threat against other, more heavily-armored vehicles.
FightBlaster: Mid-size, std chassis, lt suspension, medium power plant w/ PCs, 4 std tires, driver, BC (F), Armor: F45, B40, R30, L30, T5, U5. Acceleration: 5, HC: 1, Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,410 lbs, $9,980.

"E" version: Upgrade chassis to x-hvy and suspension to hvy. Upgrade power plant to large and switch tires to solids. Add HESH ammo to BC and JD w/ 1 extra magazine B (linked to BC). Add HrSwc for BC. Sloped Composite Armor: F18/35, B0/50, R0/40, L0/40, T0/10, U0/10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 5,750 lbs, $18,798.
ROCKET SPECIAL
Atlantic Industries needed to fill the gap in their product line between
compacts and luxuries. What they got was a sporty two-seater with solid
armor, protected tires (albeit lightly), and better-than-average top speed.
Later models have even better performance. Two of the Rocket Special's
continuing flaws are the light firepower and a lack of dropped weaponry.
Rocket Special: Mid-size, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, super power plant, 4 PR tires, driver & gunner, turreted MG, RL (F), 2 2-pt wheel hubs F, 2 3-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F50, B40, R40, L40, T50, U20. Acceleration: 5, HC; 3, Top Speed: 112.5 mph, 5,760 lbs, $13,690.
Option A: Remove gunner, RL, MG & 1-space turret. Add 2-space turret w/ laser. Cargo capacity: 3 spaces. 50 lbs. +$5,650.
Option B: Remove gunner, MG, 1-space turret. Add 3 HRs (2 F, 1 B) and 25 points armor. Armor: F65, B55, R55, L55, T15, U20. -$1.500.
