Grasshoppers are a unique hybrid of airplane and car. Their ability to go where other cars can't makes them extremely useful vehicles. A grasshopper's huge power plant gives it very high speed and acceleration on the ground. Unfortunately, the power plant's weight keeps a grasshopper's armor totals down.
AIR HAWK
The Wizard Works Air Hawk is one of the most dangerous grasshoppers
ever designed. It has nearly twice the armor of any other grasshopper,
and its weapons are as effective on the ground as they are in the air.
This design should be approached with caution.
Air Hawk: Luxury grasshopper w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small helicopter power plant w/ upgrades, 4 PR tires, driver, AC (F), FCE (B), HrSwc, radar, 10 pts FPCA on driver, Armor: F35, B30, R25, L25, T13, U25. Acceleration: 15 (5 in air), HC: 3 (2 in air), Top Speed: 210 mph (175 mph in air), 6,600 lbs, $69,130.
STARSHOT
The Starshot is designed and produced by CanAir and marketed throughout
North America. It is well-armored (for a grasshopper) and has the ability
to fight effectively at night. Unfortunately, this vehicle's only weapon
is a front-mounted MG. If you can get in back of it, the battle is yours.
Starshot: Mid-size grasshopper, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, mini helicopter power plant w/ upgrades, 4 FPPR tires, driver, MG (F), HrSwc, infrared sighting system, FP Armor: F24, B22, R22, L22, T15, U20. Acceleration: 15 (5 in air), HC: 3 (2 in air), Top Speed: 180 mph (150 mph in air), 5,750 lbs, $47,100.
CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG
CanAir designed this vehicle and named it after the title vehicle of
a movie produced in the 1960's. It is the first triphibian vehicle to go
into general production. The CCBB is a dangerous opponent because of its
tactical flexibility. However, average armor (for a grasshopper) and light
weaponry (a single MG) make operations against heavily-armed and armored
opponents extremely hazardous.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: Streamlined luxury grasshopper, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small helicopter power plant, 4 FPPR tires, driver, MG (F), HrSwc, amphibious modifications, Sloped FP Armor: F20, B20, R20, L20, T5, U20. Acceleration: 15 (5 in air; 15 on water), HC: 3 (2 in air; 1 on water), Top Speed: 217.5 mph (180 mph in air; 142.5 mph on water), 6,600 lbs, $49,420.
BLASTHOPPER
When BlasterMotors decided to do grasshopper designs, they chose their
best-selling vehicle design to start with, hence the BlastFighter takes
to the skies. The BlastHopper is a flying BlastFighter (which is enough
to scare the wits out of most duellists).
BlastHopper: Sedan grasshopper w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small helicopter power plant, 4 solid tires, driver, MG (F), Swc, fake BC (F) & OJ (B), blow-through concealment (MG), 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F31, B25, R25, L25, T25, U25. Acceleration: 15 (5 in air), HC: 2, Top Speed: 202.5 mph (170 mph in air), 6,114 lbs, $47,589.
"A" version: Replace MG w/ LL. $49,089.
"B" version: Replace MG w/ MML and add 8 points armor. $47,197.
"C" version: Replace MG w/ 100-lb cluster bomb and add 6 points armor. $46,408.
BlastHopper II: Luxury grasshopper w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small helicopter power plant, 4 solid tires, driver, BC (F), Swc, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F25, B25, R25, L25, T24, U25. Acceleration: 15 (5 in air), HC: 2, Top Speed: 197.5 mph (165 mph in air), 6,600 lbs, $52,878.
GAMBLER
The Radius Motors Gambler is one of the lowest-priced garsshoppers
ever produced. It relies on its ability to fly and its pair of bombs as
its offense. Like most grasshoppers, the Gambler's armor is very light.
This vehicle is helpless if caught on the ground. However, its high speed
makes it a difficult target.
Gambler: Mid-size grasshopper, std chassis, hvy suspension, mini helicopter power plant, 4 std tires, driver, 2 bombs linked U, Swc, HD brakes, Armor: F10, B6, R7, L7, T4, U10. Acceleration: 15 (5 in air), HC: 3 (2 in air), Top Speed: 180 mph (150 mph in air), 4,998 lbs, $29,056.
MEAN STREAK
The Radius Motors Mean Streak lives up to its name, as it is a fast
& vicious opponent with excellent armor (for a grasshopper). Ground-based
attacks against the Mean Streak are not recommended because of the combined
danger from the bomb and the MFRP.
Mean Streak: Luxury grasshopper w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small helicopter power plant w/ upgrades, 4 PR tires, driver, VMG (F), MFRP (U), bomb (U) linked to MFRP, hi-res computer, 10 pts CA on driver, Armor: F35, B30, R30, L30, T15, U20. Acceleration: 15 (5 in air), HC: 3 (2 in air), Top Speed: 210 mph (175 mph in air), 6,590 lbs, $63,100.
COUATL
This grasshopper is named after the winged serpent from fantasy legend.
The Couatl's average armor is compensated for by the accuracy of its weapon.
Couatl: Mid-size grasshopper, x-hvy chassis, imp suspension,
mini helicopter power plant w/ upgrades, 4 HD tires, driver, VMG (F), Swc,
Armor: F20, B15, R20, L20, T15, U20. Acceleration: 15 (5 in air), HC: 2
(both grouind & air), Top Speed: 180 mph (150 mph in air), 5,740 lbs,
$39,160.
