Compacts & Sub-Compacts are the lower end of the duelling market. Their small size limits the amount of weaponry that they can carry. However, don't dismiss them out of hand. Each of these vehicle types is harder to hit than any other kind of duelling car. The sub-compact also has better handling than any other non-racing vehicle. As far as armor is concerned, the sub-compact is limited in the amount it can carry. This is not the case with a compact. A properly-designed compact can take a pounding that can reduce most other vehicles to debris counters.
WENDIGO
This vehicle is named after the indestructible, flesh-eating demon
from Canadian folklore. It was Michael Garrity's entry in the 2046 NOVA
Club Championship. From the front, the Wendigo is invulnerable to anything
less than a HESH-loaded blast cannon or APFSDS-loaded anti-tank gun. The
thick side armor is highly-resistant to most common duelling weapons (VMGs,
RRs, RLs, etc). If this design has one vulnerable spot, it is the back,
which is protected by standard plastic armor.
Wendigo: Compact, x-hvy chassis, Hvy supension, medium power plant w/ SCs, 4 PR snow tires, driver, VMG (F), Swc, 5 pts CA on driver, Sloped Composite Armor: F15/20, B0/40, R10/15, L10/15, T0/2, U0/3. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,440 lbs, $9,960.
GRAPESHOT
The Grapeshot is a well-armored Division-10 design from DKI/New Omaha.
It has an accurate, versatile weapon and enough dischargers to discourage
anyone from attacking the flanks. The Grapeshot's main selling point is
that it is a highly-difficult target.
Grapeshot: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, improved supension, small power plant w/ upgrades, 4 HD tires, driver, GL w/ rotary magazine F (4 shots explosive, 3 shots white phosphorus, 3 shots flaming oil; all grenades have impact fuzes), 3 FODs w/ bumper triggers (1 R, 1 L, 1 B), 1 FCD (U), HrSwc, Armor: F35, B25, R30, L30, T8, U8. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,760 lbs, $9,296.
MICROFIGHTER
Radius Motors licensed DKI to produce the MicroFighter, a smaller version
of the famous BlastFighter design. The MicroFighter is jut as tough as
its larger cousin. The heavy armor and protected tires make the MicroFighter
as capable on the road as it is in the arena.
MicroFighter: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, blueprinted 100 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 solid tires, driver, RR w/ extra magazine F (all ammo is HESH), OJ (B), Swc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Composite Armor: F15/40, B0/55, R0/46, L0/46, T0/10, U0/10. GIBRALTAR
Duellists who crave a feeling of rock-like security are the driving
the lightly-armed Gibraltar from DKI/New Omaha. The Gibraltar is making
its presence felt in the off-road duelling market, because this vehicle's
heavy composite armor makes it invulnerable to anything less than a ATG
w/ APFSDS loads or a blast cannon loaded with HESH ammunition. In combat,
try for a tire shot or use dropped weapons.
Gibraltar: Compact w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, O/R suspension, blueprinted 100CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 PROR tires, driver, VMG w/ HD ammo F, HrSwc, 10 pts FPCA on driver, 10 pts FPCA on engine, 10 pts FPCA on VMG, Sloped Composite Armor: F20/25, B12/15, R15/20, L15/20, T0/5, U0/5. Acceleration: 10, HC: 2 (3 O/R), Top Speed: 70 mph, Base MPG: 50, 4,437 lbs, $28,947.
Option: Add rotary magazine to VMG and remove 2 points armor. Make ammo load 1/2 HD & 1/2 explosive. +$471, -2 lbs.
GIBRALTAR II
This version of the basic Gibraltar design has been outfitted for road
combat. The tires are well-protected and the vehicle is highly-resistant
to laser-guided weapons fire.
Gibraltar II: Compact w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, blueprinted 100 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 PR radial tires, driver, VMG w/ rotary magazine F (10 shots HD/10 shots explosive), SS w/ hot smoke U, HrSwc, 9 laser-reactive webs linked to SS (F, B, R, L, T, all 4 wheelguards), 10 pts FPCA on driver, 10 pts FPCA on engine, 4 5-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Composite Armor: F15/25, B10/15, R12/20, L12/20, T0/10, U0/15. Acceleration: 10, HC: 3, Top Speed: 70 mph, Base MPG: 50, 4,440 lbs, $26,723.
MINI-SHERMAN
This Division-10 design from CFI is tough to beat, unless you are using
HESH ammunition. The Mini-Sherman's tires are obvious targets, though its
high speed and good acceleration makes it difficult to line them up for
a shot.
Mini-Sherman: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant w/ upgrades, 4 HD tires, driver, 2 MGs linked F, JD w/ 5 shots B, Metal Armor: F12, B10, R10, L10, T1, U5. Acceleration: 10, HC: 3, Top Speed: 122.5 mph, 4,425 lbs, $9,860.
LIGHT FIGHTER
NOVA President Joseph Ratner used this Radius Motors design in the
same duel where the Gibraltar made its first appearance. Neither vehicle
was able to appreciable damage the other. This vehicle has a top speed
that is nearly 25 mph higher than the Gibraltar's, although the acceleration
is lower. The Light Fighter's main selling points are that its weaponry
is more powerful and its front armor is heavier.
Light Fighter: Compact w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, O/R suspension, medium power palnt w/ SCs, 4 PROR tires, driver, laser F, SD w/ explosive spikes B, HrSwc, Sloped Composite Armor: F18/70, B0/70, R0/70, B0/70, T0/2, U0/2. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 O/R), Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,437 lbs, $29,465.
Highway Version: Change O/R suspension to heavy and change tires to standard PR. Add 3 points armor. $21,344.
"A" version: Armor Placement now F18/40, B7/40, R7/40, L7/40, T0/1, U0/1. 4,437 lbs, $28,414.
Highway "A" version: Change O/R suspension to heavy and change tires to standard PR. Add 3 points armor. $20,293.
PURE SHOT
The Pure Shot was designed by Recoilless Ranger and built by Radius
Motors. It features sloped armor, a front-mounted VMG and the familiar
spoiler/airdam combination. The tires are also well-protected. In combat,
avoid the front and go for the sides or the rear.
Pure Shot: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ PCs, 4 SBPR tires, driver, VMG w/ HD ammo F, HrSwc, HD brakes, spoiler & airdam, 4 5-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F56, B30, R31, L31, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 at 60 mph+), Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,408 lbs, $13,973.
SPARK
The Spark is a well-armored sub-compact armed with a front-mounted
MML loaded with incendiary rockets. This makes it a serious threat in Division-5
duelling, where fireproof armor isn't often seen beacuse of its cost.
Spark: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant, 4 PR tires, driver, MML w/ incendiary ammo F, Armor: F22, B20, R18, L18, T7, U10. Acceleration: 10, HC: 4, Top Speed: 122.5 mph, 2,685 lbs, $4,995.
GLADIUS
The steel edge of the gladius allowed Roman legionaries to conquer
the world. The Division-20 Gladius from DKI/New Omaha protects modern warriors
with thick composite armor while allowing them to conquer their enemies
with the power of an autocannon.
Gladius: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ upgrades, 4 solid tires, driver, AC (F), HrSwc, overdrive, HD shocks, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Composite Armor: F15/10, B12/10, R10/10, L10/10, T0/10, U0/10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 95 mph, 4,438 lbs, $24,189.
CUDGEL
By definition, a cudgel is a short, weighted club used to beat one's
enemies into submission. The DKI Cudgel is designed to do exactly that.
Its thick ram plate allows the driver to smash through barricades and vehicular
armor alike, and the twin HMGs with incendiary ammo can set fire to anything
that is left over. As with other vehicles that have front-mounted weaponry,
stay out of this car's front arc and try for shots against the sides or
rear.
Cudgel: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ SCs, 4 SBHD tires, driver, 2 HMGs w/ incendiary ammo linked F, Swc, bumper trigger, Sloped Armor: F50 (ram plate), B40, R45, L45, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,440 lbs, $14,032.
RAMROD II
Like the other members of the Ramrod series, the Ramrod II was designed
with two features in mind; 1) protect the driver, 2) Kill the enemy.
Ramrod II: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, 150 CI gas engine w/ 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 PR radial tires, driver, roll cage, safety seat, HD shocks, 10 pts FPCA on driver, 10 pts FPCA on engine, FP insulator on gas tank, Sloped Armor: F100 (ram plate), B60, R45, L45, T14, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 72 mph, Base MPG: 45, 4,439 lbs, $17,243.
SHOTGUN
The Shotgun is named for its ability to blast large holes in other
vehicles, especially those carrying composite metal/plastic armor. The
sides and rear of the Shotgun are protected by dischargers, and it carries
fake wheelguards and fake wheelhubs to trick its opponents into not shooting
at the tires. This design's only real weakness is the relative inaccuracy
of the ATG. This means that a Shotgun driver has to get fairly close to
the target in order to hit it.
Shotgun: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ upgrades, 4 PR tires, driver, ATG w/ HESH ammo F, 2 PDGs w/ bumper triggers (1 R, 1 L), FcD (B), FOD (U), Swc, 4 fake wheel hubs, 4 fake wheelguards, Sloped Composite Armor: F10/11, B10/10, R8/8, L8/8, T0/5, U0/5. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 95 mph, 4,440 lbs, $9,675.
LANCET
By definition, a lancet is a small knife used for making surgical incisions.
The DKI Lancet gives this definition vehicular form. This vehicle's moderate
amount of composite armor makes it invulnerable to most types of hand weaponry.
It is also highly resistant to attacks from machineguns (the single most
common weapon on the road). As an added bonus, the Lancet's small size
and sloped armor make it a very difficult target.
Lancet: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ upgrades, 4 HD tires, driver, MG w/ rotary magazine F (10 shots HD/10 shots explosive), FcD (B), FOD (U), Swc, Sloped Composite Armor: F5/10, B5/10, R4/8, L4/8, T0/5, U0/5. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,760 lbs, $6,551.
SWITCHBLADE
This tiny vehicle is full of surprises. No one expects a sub-compact
to last very long in a duel of any kind. Imagine the shocked looks on the
faces on your opponents when your Switchblade takes repeated weapon hits
that would have destroyed much larger vehicles. The Switchblade can also
give as good as it gets by using its forward-mounted light pulse laser.
Switchblade: Sub-compact w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, blueprinted 50 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 PR radial tires, driver, light pulse laser F, laser battery, HrSwc, 10 pts FPCA on driver, Sloped Armor: F75, B45, R55, L55, T10, U10. Acceleration: 10, HC: 5, Top Speed: 62.5 mph, Base MPG: 60, 2,710 lbs, $19,800.
ACE
The Ace is designed to win duels by guile and stealth. This design
appears to be armed with only a turreted MG. Opponents who make this mistake
will get killed for their trouble because the Ace's hood conceals a laser,
ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.
Ace: Compact w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, blueprinted 150 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 PR radial tires, driver, turreted MG w/ rotary magazine (10 shots HD/10 shots explosive), laser w/ laser battery F, 2 FODs w/ bumper triggers (1 R, 1 L), hi-res computer, blow-through concealment for laser, 4 10-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F60, B60, R50, L50, T34, U10. Acceleration: 15, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, Base MPG: 45, 4,439 lbs, $39,375.
MICROBLASTER
The DKI MicroBlaster is a combination of the best design features found
on the Blaster Motors' BlastFighter and the DKI MicroFighter. It has heavily-protected
tires and is immune to laser-guided weaponry.
MicroBlaster: Compact w/ CA frame, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, blueprinted 100 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 PR radial tires, driver, AC (F), SS w/ hot smoke U, Swc, 9 laser-reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T, all 4 wheelguards) linked to SS, 10 pts FPCA on driver, 4 10-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Composite Armor: F20/50, B0/60, R0/50, L0/50, T0/12, U0/14. Acceleration: 10, HC: 3, Top Speed: 70 mph, Base MPG: 50, 4,436 lbs, $29,090.
DECURION
The Decurion combines accurate firepower and respectable armor in an
affordable package. Duellists can easily modify this vehicle to Division-15
or Division-20 standards. Although a capable fighting machine, the Decurion
really isn't suited to long-term road combat because of the lasers' drain
on the power plant.
Decurion: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ SCs, 4 solid tires, driver, 2 light lasers linked F, FOJ (B), Swc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F60, B40, R50, L50, T13, U12. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,440 lbs, $15,950.
FIREWALKER
The Division-5 Firewalker is noted for its respectable armor and the
incendiary threat it poses to other vehicles. Duellists who find themselves
on fire because of the FOJ can be put out of their misery by the twin LRs
on the rocket platform.
Firewalker: Sub-compact, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 linked LRs on mini-rocket platform, FOJ (B), 4 5-pt wheelguards, Armor: F16, B22, R16, L16, T6, U6. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,520 lbs, $4,852.
Icewalker option: As above, but replace FOJ and 4 points armor w/ ID (B). $4,883.
Firewall option: Remove rocket platform and 1 point of armor. Add FCGS (B) and upgrade wheelguards to 7 points each. $4,271.
BAKER
The Baker does a good job of setting its opponents on fire. However,
it is handicapped by its very light armor. A Baker's driver will live longer
by guile and trickery than by direct combat.
Baker: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ SCs, 4 PR tires, driver, FT w/ HT fuel B, 4 5-pt wheelguards, Armor: F6, B11, R7, L7, T3, U3. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,640 lbs, $4,607.
Option: Remove FT and 1 point of armor. Downgrade wheelguards to 3 points each. Add 2 linked LFTs (B). -2 lbs, -$541.
MINESTER
In the lightly-armored world of Division-5 duelling, the Minester is
a sure killer. Not only does it have a ram plate, it also has a minedropper
to kill the tires of anyone stupid enough to follow it.
Minester: Sub-compact, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, MD (B), Armor: F20 (ram plate), B13, R12, L12, T4, U7. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,520 lbs, $4,358.
PILEDRIVER
The combat endurance of this vehicle is limited not by the armor, but
by the fact that it has only two light rockets for offensive armament.
Where the Piledriver excels at is defense. It has above-average armor for
a Division-5 vehicle, the tires have solid wheelguards, and the rear-mounted
junkdropper has enough ammunition to make large stretches of road or arena
extremely hazardous to the lighter tires common on most Division-5 designs.
Piledriver: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ upgrades, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 linked LRs on mini-rocket platform, JD w/ extra magazine B, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Armor: F20, B18, R14, L14, T6, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC:3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,760 lbs, $4,377.
SPEAR CARRIER
The Division-15 Spear Carrier is designed to function as a member of
a team, providing harassing fire with the LMG while sealing off avenues
of approach with its FOJ. The sloped armor is sufficient to withstand two
shots on all sides from an anti-tank gun or autocannon.
Spear Carrier: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, Imp suspension, blueprinted 50 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon racing tank, 4 PR tires, driver, LMG w/ rotary magazine F (ammo is 1/2 HD & 1/2 explosive), FOJ (B), HrSwc, 2 5-pt wheel hubs F, 2 5-pt wheelguards B, Sloped Armor: F40, B30, R35, L35, T13, U14. Acceleration: 10, HC: 3, Top Speed: 62.5 mph, Base MPG: 60, 2,760 lbs, $14,296.
VERMICIOUS KANID
The VK is a capable, well-armored brawler. Its explosive-loaded LMGs
can quickly strip an opponent's armor (even if it is metal). Rear defense
is provided by a dependable FOJ.
Vermicious Kanid: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, blueprinted 150 CI gas engine w/ tubular headers, VP turbocharger & 5-gallon duelling tank, 4 solid tires, driver, 3 LMGs w/ explosive ammo linked F, FOJ (B), Swc, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F65, B45, R50, L50, T12, U10. Acceleration: 15, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, Base MPG: 45, 4,437 lbs, $23,141.
CALTROP CANNON
The Caltrop Cannon is designed to attack other vehicles where they
are most vulnerable. The front-mounted spike gun allows the driver to place
his spikes wherever he wants them. This vehicle has no direct-fire offensive
weaponry. Therefore, the best tactic to use against it is to stay out of
the front arc and shoot the sides or the back.
Caltrop Cannon: Sub-compact, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, SG (F), Swc, 4 5-pt wheelguards, Armor: F24, B12, R12, L12, T4, U4. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,520 lbs, $4,898.
GNAT
Named after the well-known insect, the Division-5 Gnat is aptly designed.
Its most distinguishing feature is the use of laser guidance. A Gnat driver
must choose his fights because he only has two shots. However, few other
Division-5 designs can stand up to it in a one-on-one battle.
Gnat: Sub-compact, std chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant, 4 HD tires, driver, 2 laser-guided APHRs (F), targeting laser w/ Lgl (F), Armor: F12, B9, R9, L9, T4, U5. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, 2,300 lbs, $4,978.
SUNSHINE
The Sunshine allows Division-10 duellists to light up the arena using
the power of a medium laser. This vehicle is a match for more heavily-armored
opponents because the medium laser has a Swc to enhance accuracy. The small
size of the Sunshine makes it a difficult target.
Sunshine: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ upgrades, 4 PR tires, driver, ML (F), Swc, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Armor: F25, B15, R15, L15, T5, U5. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,760 lbs, $9,980.
VICIOUS
The Vicious is a very dangerous design. It is lightly armored (even
by Division-5 standards), but makes up for the lack of protection with
the accuracy and killing power of its VMG. The wheelguards provide good
protection against most types of hand weapons.
Vicious: Sub-compact, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant, 4 standard tires, driver, VMG (F), 4 2-pt wheelguards, Armor: F10, B5, R5, L5, T2, U2. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,397 lbs, $4,699.
IGUANA III
This design (from Amex Combat Autoworks) is in the same league as the
Vicious. It trades the VMG for the burst-effect of a RR as well as better
tires and more armor.
Iguana III: Sub-compact, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, RR (F), 4 3-pt wheelguards, Armor: F16, B10, R12, L12, T1, U3. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,518 lbs, $4,834.
ROCKET MISER
Amex Combat Autoworks designed this vehicle to exploit the burst effect
of rockets while having enough of a follow-up weapon to kill targets which
have been wounded by the rockets. The Rocket Miser's main weak point is
its unprotected tires.
Rocket Miser: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, lt suspension, small power plant w/ upgrades, 4 HD tires, driver, LMG (F), 3 linked MRs on REWPs (1 R, 1 L, 1 T), Sloped Armor: F17, B11, R12, L12, T2, U2. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 82.5 mph (92.5 mph w/o REWPs), 2,615 lbs, $4,998.
PENNY PINCHER
Years ago, Amex Combat Autoworks entered the Division-5 duelling market
with this design. It is a popular vehicle, with the ability to be easily
modified and still come in at under $5,000.
Penny Pincher: Compact, lt chassis, imp suspension, medium power plant, 4 HD tires, driver, MML (F), JD (B), 10 pts CA on driver, Sloped Armor: F9, B7, R7, L7, T1, U2. Acceleration: 10, HC: 2, Top Speed: 120 mph, 2,798 lbs, $3,612.
PENNY PINCHER II
The Penny Pincher is a popular car in Division-5 duelling. It has a
front-mounted MML (giving it a burst effect weapon) and the vulnerable
rear is defended by a junkdropper. A common upgrade to this design consists
of adding a Swc to guide the MML.
Penny Pincher II: Sub-compact, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, MML (F), JD (B), 4 5-pt wheelguards, Armor: F18, B14, R14, L14, T2, U6. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,520 lbs, $4,298.
PENNY PINCHER III
This vehicle was designed to overcome some of the weaknesses of the
earlier members of the Penny Pincher series, namely light armor and inaccurate
weaponry. The Penny Pincher III also has a front-mounted MFRP for quick
& dirty fighting at close quarters. It retains the rear-mounted junkdropper,
but replaces the MML with an LMG.
Penny Pincher III: Compact, lt chassis, imp suspension, medium power plant, 4 HD tires, driver, LMG (F), MFRP (F), JD (B), Armor: F26, B20, R15, L15, T5, U5. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 107.5 mph, 3,251 lbs, $4,988.
Option: Remove MFRP. Add 2 linked MRs (F) and 13 points armor. 3,279 lbs, $4,987.
CONVEYANCE
The Conveyance is most commonly employed as a light-duty cargo hauler
or courier vehicle. It is also used in Division-5 courier races, where
the emphasis is more on driving than on combat.
Conveyance: Sub-compact, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power
plant w/ PCs, 4 SBHD tires, driver, LMG (F), Swc, Armor: F23, B15, R16,
L16, T3, U3. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 92.5 mph (90 mph fully
loaded), 2,420 lbs, $4,686.
Cargo Capacity: 1 space, 100 lbs.
BUBBLE BOX
A Jontue Motors' Bubble Box is a straight passenger vehicle with no
combat capability of any kind (except for any hand weapons carried by the
driver and the passengers). It is almost never encountered in unsettled
areas unless the driver is a complete idiot.
Bubble Box: Sub-compact, std chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant, 4 standard tires, driver, 2 passengers, Armor: F9, B7, R8, L8, T7, U7. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 2,300 lbs, $1,956.
CAPSULE
The Capsule (like the Bubble Box) is a vehicle designed solely for
transport. If the driver gets into a bad situation, he will live longer
than the driver of a Bubble Box because of the heavier vehicular armor
and the component armor protecting him and the power plant.
Capsule: Sub-compact, std chassis, O/R suspension, small power plant, 4 solid tires, driver, 10 pts CA on driver, 10 pts CA on power plant, Armor: F12, B7, R9, L9, T1, U2. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 95 mph, 2,250 lbs, $4,990.
2046 KILLER KART
A Killer Kart is the first vehicle that many duellists start their
career with. This inexpensive design is the first choice for many arenas
when it is time to pick a stock vehicle for Amateur Night. The KK has enough
armor to survive at least four average hits from a machinegun on all sides
except the top. The biggest threat to the driver is grenades or dropped
weapons. One good shot from either of these weapons can put a Killer Kart
out of action.
2046 Killer Kart: Sub-compact, std chassis, hvy suspension, small power plant, 4 HD tires, driver, LMG (F), 10 pts CA on driver, Armor: F14, B14, R14, L14, T2, U2. Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 2,300 lbs, $3,660.
WRATH OF CANNON
This Crane Industries design is the most heavily-armed Division-5 car
in current production. The front-mounted ATG has the ability to destroy
other Division-5 vehicles in one shot. Unfortunately, the WOC doesn't have
a targeting computer, so the driver must get close to his target in order
to have a reasonable chance to hit.
Wrath of Cannon: Compact, lt chassis, lt suspension, medium power plant, 4 std tires, driver, ATG (F), Sloped Armor: F20, B12, R12, L12, T2, U2. Acceleration: 5, HC: 1, Top Speed: 107.5 mph, 3,330 lbs, $4,878.
REBOUNDER
The Rebounder is a well-armored ram car designed for use in Division-10
duelling. It is almost fully-optimized for ram combat, having a roll cage,
a safety seat for the driver as well as component armor on the driver and
the power plant. Where the Rebounder suffers is with the unprotected tires.
Rebounder: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 PR radial tires, driver, bumper spikes (B), roll cage, safety seat, 10 pts CA on driver, 10 pts CA on power plant, Armor: F60 (ram plate), B39, R39, L39, T4, U4, Acceleration: 5, HC: 4, Top Speed: 115 mph, 4,255 lbs, $9,990.
SNUB FIGHTER
The Amex Combat Autoworks' Snub Fighter is a capable Division-10 design
with a suprising amount of cargo capacity for such a small vehicle. Duellists
who want to keep their enemies guessing will often use the cargo capacity
to carry passengers, dropped weapons or more armor.
Snub Fighter: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium
power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, HMG (F), Swc, Sloped Armor: F50,
B44, R50 L50, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 95 mph (90 mph
fully-loaded), 3,984 lbs, $9,460.
Cargo Capacity: 2 spaces, 426 lbs.
2046 CATAPAULT
This Crane Industries design used the now-familiar combination of heavy
composite armor and a powerful weapon to produce an effective Division-10
fighting machine. The Catapault has the weight capacity for some design
changes, and is enough under budget so that the driver can change the ammo
load in the ATG to all HESH or HEAT.
Catapault: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, ATG (F), Swc, Sloped Composite Armor: F14/25, B0/35, R0/35, L0/35, T0/10, U0/15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,400 lbs, $9,118.
LUNGE
The Lunge is an average Division-15 duelling car from Amex Combat Autoworks.
It has no outstanding weaknesses except unprotected tires.
Lunge: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant, 4 SBPR tires, driver, 2 MGs w/ HD ammo linked F, RL (B), Armor: F46, B35, R30, L30, T10, U15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,196 lbs, $11,958.
LL option: Remove MGs & RL. Add 2 LLs linked F and 1 RR (B). $13,658.
MLS option: Add PCs to power plant and downgrade tires to PR. Remove MGs & RL. Add MLS (F) and RR (B). Armor: F53, B53, R50, L50, T10, U10. 4,406 lbs, $14,688.
CRAZY HARRY SPECIAL
The Crazy Harry Special is most effective as a team member or tail-end
charlie. Its lack of direct-fire offensive weaponry makes it vulnerable
to any vehicle that can avoid the minedroppers. Tire shots should be avoided
because the tires are heavily-protected. In combat, try for shots on the
front (the armor here is relatively weak).
Crazy Harry Special: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ PCs, 4 solid radial tires, driver, 2 linked MDs (1 R, 1 L), 4 10-pt wheel hubs, 4 10-pt wheelguards, Armor: F27, B70, R37, L37, T15, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,406 lbs, $12,202.
Option: Add proximity fuzes for all mines. +$2,000, no weight change.
BUDGET BRAWLER
The Amex Combat Autoworks' Budget Brawler is designed for the duellist
who likes to get "up close and personal". The front-mounted HMG is a respectable
weapon, but the BB's main firepower lies in the pair of front-mounted heavy
rockets. In a duel, the rockets can be used to soften up an enemy car or
cripple him in a collision. For rear defense, the Budget Brawler has a
paint spray. In combat, avoid the front and the back. Targeting the sides
or the tires is a better option.
Budget Brawler: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant, 4 SBHD tires, driver, HMG (F), 2 HRs linked F, PS (B), Swc (to HMG), bumper spikes (F), bumper trigger (HRs), Armor: F53, B38, R38, L38, T10, U15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,197 lbs, $9,761.
BILLYCLUB
The Billyclub is marketed by a number of different companies for the
purpose of off-road pedestrian hunting. The turreted FG is useful against
both pedestrians and tires, and the front-mounted RR can defend against
the odd vehicle encountered in those pedestrian hunts.
Billyclub: Compact, x-hvy chassis, O/R suspension, medium power plant, 4 OR solid tires, driver, RR (F), turreted FG, roll cage, car blades, brushcutter, 4 2-pt wheel hubs, FP Armor: F25, B20, R20, L20, T20, U13. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 O/R), Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,078 lbs, $15,244.
Option: Remove RR. Add MG w/ anti-personnel ammo F. Add 3 points of armor and upgrade wheel hubs to 7 pts each, cargo capacity: 1 space, 174 lbs. $17,372.
FIRE CUSHION
The moderately-armored Fire Cushion is a generic Division-10 vehicle
for those duellists whose favorite hobby is roasting their enemies alive.
A front-mounted RL allows the driver of this vehicle to soften up his opponents
so that the HT flamethrower can more easily penetrate to their vulnerable
interiors. One of this vehicle's good points is that the tires are protected.
Fire Cushion: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ PCs, 4 PR tires, driver, RL (F), FT w/ HT ammo L, spoiler, 2 10-pt wheel hubs F, 2 10-pt wheelguards B, Armor: F40, B30, R30, L35, T5, U9. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,239 lbs, $9,012.
HEAT EXCHANGER
This design combines two of the most effective low-budget weapons (rockets
and fire) in a well-armored, economical package. The Heat Exchanger has
good handling and well-protected tires.
Heat Exchanger: Compact, hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant, 4 SBPR tires, driver, RL w/ extra magazine F (all rockets are incendiary), spoiler, 4 5-pt wheel hubs, 4 5-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F46, B30, R30, L30, T6, U8. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 at 60 mph+), Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,005 lbs, $8,620.
Division-15 option: Upgrade chassis to x-hvy. Add upgrades to power plant. Add airdam and upgrade wheel hubs and wheelguards to 10 pts each. 4,357 lbs, $10,660.
OBLIQUE
The Kane Motors' Oblique is one of only a few designs to exploit the
tactical possibilities of sponson-mounted weaponry. In connection with
the front-mounted MG, the extremely wide fields of fire afforded by the
sponson-mounted MGs insures that the only dead spot in the Oblique's fields
of fire is straight back. In some circumstances, all three MGs can hit
the same target.
Oblique: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ SCs, 4 PR tires, driver, MG (F), 2 sponson-mounted MGs (1 R, 1 L), targeting computer, 2 smart links, Sloped Armor: F50, B50, R50, L50, T8, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,408 lbs, $14,818.
GECKO
This Amex Combat Autoworks design features a pair of side-mounted LMGs
and a front-mounted RR. It is decently-armored, although the tires are
unprotected. The Gecko is often used as a "point" vehicle for duelling
teams. In such a role, it is usually accompanied by a vehicle dedicated
to carrying dropped weapons.
Gecko: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant, 4 solid tires, driver, RR (F), 2 LMGs (1 R, 1 L), targeting computer, FP Armor: F40, B38, R40,L40, T10, U10. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 90 mph, 4,198 lbs, $14,508.
NIGHTSTICK
The Amex Combat Autoworks Nightstick is a popular vehicle in duels
where the combat is between pedestrians and cars. Its weaponry is primarily
designed to exterminate pedestrians and has limited utility against other
cars. The armor is sufficient to stop numerous hits by pedestrian weapons
and the tires are protected by wheelguards.
Nightstick: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ upgrades, 4 FP solid tires, driver, MG w/ extra magazine F (all ammo is anti-personnel), FG w/ extra magazine in universal turret, hi-res computer, 4 10-pt FP wheelguards, FP Armor: F38, B38, R37, L37, T30, U20. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2, Top Speed: 95 mph, 4,440 lbs, $26,300.
"G" option: Remove MG & extra magazine. Add GL w/ rotary magazine F (price doesn't include grenades). 4,425 lbs, $21,750.
"GO/R" option: As "G" version, but remove 5 pts armor. Change suspension to O/R and tires to FPOR solids. Add brushcutter. 4,435 lbs, $23,870.
2046 HAYMAKER
The Haymaker is one of a number of armed ram-car designs from Amex
Combat Autoworks. Unlike some ram-car designs, the Haymaker has protected
tires. This vehicle's spoiler/airdam combination gives excellent handling
at high speeds.
2046 Haymaker: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ upgrades, 4 solid tires, driver, RL w/ extra magazine F, bumper trigger (F), roll cage, safety seat, spoiler & airdam, Armor: F50 (ram plate), B30, R30, L30, T15, U15. Acceleration: 5, HC: 2 (3 at 60 mph+), Top Speed: 95 mph, 4.420 lbs, $12,535.
CME-2A
The CME-2A is produced in the Dominion of South Africa by DGAG, and
imported into North America by its American subsidiary. It is a strong,
fighter-style design capable of stripping off the metal armor which is
common in the lower divisions. Do not attack this vehicle from the front.
As an aside, this vehicle was used in the first running of the 2046 NOVA
Duelling Championship.
CME-2A: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ SCs, 4 PR snow tires, driver, RR w/ extra magazine F (either HEAT or HESH in both), Swc, Sloped Composite Armor: F13/10, B12/10, R12/5, L12/5, T0/1, U0/3. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,439 lbs, $9,439.
FILED TIP
This design from Amex Combat Autoworks is a tough nut to crack. It
resembles a small BlastFighter, making it a very dangerous design. It saw
service in the first running of the 2046 NOVA Duelling Championship.
Filed Tip: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ SCs, 4 PR snow tires, driver, RL w/ extra magzine F, FOD (B), Swc, Sloped Composite Armor: F18/40, B0/50, R0/50, L0/50, T0/5, U0/5. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,410 lbs, $9,654.
BLITZ III
The Radius Motors' Blitz III is a heavily-armored Division-10 vehicle
that has a number of variants available. It was used by two of the competitors
in the first running of the 2046 NOVA Duelling Championship.
Blitz III: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, medium power plant w/ SCs, 4 PR snow tires, driver, HMG (F), 2 SDs linked to HMG, Sloped Composite Armor: F14/4, B12/4, R12/4, L12/4, T0/2, U0/2. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 92.5 mph, 4,440 lbs, $9,303.
"A" version: Replace HMG w/ MML. Add 37 points plastic armor and Swc. Change ammo in SDs to incendiary. $9,383.
"B" version: Replace HMG w/ MG. Add 25 points plastic armor and Swc. Change ammo in one SD to incendiary. $9,460.
"C" version: Replace HMG w/ LL and add 25 points plastic armor. $9,661.
"D" version: Replace HMG w/ dual-weapon magazine for SDs. Change SD ammo to all incendiary. Add fake weapon F and blow-through concealment for SDs. Add streamlining and 35 points plastic armor. Top Speed: 100 mph, $9,003.
INIMICAL
The Inimical (from Essex Duelcars, Inc) was a Division-10 vehicle able
to compete in a Division-30 event. Although the Inimical has limited firepower,
this firepower is made more dangerous by the use of incendiary rockets.
The rear-mounted SD is also loaded with explosive spikes. This vehicle's
most prominent feature is thick composite armor. In tests, the front armor
handled six rounds from a blast cannon before being breached.
Inimical: Compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, large power plant, 4 PR tires, driver, RL w/ incendiary rockets F, SD w/ explosive spikes B, Swc, blow-through concealment for RL & SD, Composite Armor: F15/32, B6/30, R6/30, L6/30, T0/0, U0/0. Acceleration: 5, HC: 3, Top Speed: 115 mph, 4,392 lbs, $9,737.
RAZOR
Duellists who drive a Razor tend to fight with guile and stealth, as
this vehicle can't withstand the punishment other Division-10 vehicles
can. Even so, the Razor is an effective combatant. Its small size makes
it a difficult target, and the accuracy of the VMG enables it to hit targets
before being hit back by less accurate weaponry (RLs, ATGs, etc).
Razor: Sub-compact, x-hvy chassis, hvy suspension, small power
plant w/ upgrades, 4 HD tires, driver, VMG (F), 4 FCDs (2 R, 2 L), 3 FODs
(1 B, 2 U), Swc, Armor: F25, B15, R20, L20, T7, U6. Acceleration: 5, HC:
4, Top Speed: 90 mph, 2,760 lbs, $7,273.
