BUSES

For decades, buses have been the least-expensive means of transporting of passengers. With the rise in popularity of autoduelling (and the increase in the numbers of armed vehicles on the road), bus operators armed and armored their vehicles in order to protect their passengers and cargo. Buses are also encountered in the form of the ever-popular RV, which is basically a privately-owned bus fitted out with living quarters (and sometimes luxury apartments). For anyone contemplating attacking a bus, they should consider that a bus can mount almost as much weaponry as a truck.

2045 CAMEL
The updated Camel design has become renowned nationwide for its long range and great endurance. It is currently being constructed in four styles, each with various types of weaponry. Camels are vulnerable to attacks directed against their sides. However, one should also take note of the firepower carried by their companion trailers (see Trailers-Camels' Tail). Some Camels have reportedly gone over a year without stopping at a recharge station. Currently, Camels are used by many OTR businesses, so they may be encountered anywhere.

War Camels were built in response to attacks which the Camel-series buses encountered over their years of service. A War Camel doubles the forward firepower of the basic Camel while fooling attackers with the familiar Camel profile. More than one cycle gang has paid the price for making this mistake.

Note: All of the Camel designs and variants use the revised heavy hitch as published back in NightMessenger 7/3. Since there was no clarification on spoilers & airdams, they were included on these buses. It seems strange, but it is entirely possible.

Common Camel upgrades: Since most Camels are owned by bus/cargo/repair companies, a common upgrade would be to increase the size of the power plant so that heavier car trailers can be towed. Such upgrades are usually done within the first year after purchase (if not purchased with it installed). Another common upgrade is to upgrade the targeting computers to hi-res.

BATTLE BUS
The tasks assigned to the DKI Battle Bus range from convoy escort to gang-busting and barricade-crashing. Extensive weaponry, heavy armor and fully-protected tires make this vehicle a formidable opponent.

SLEDGE HAMMER
This bus is designed to carry two 5-man fire teams into battle and provide them with fire support. Never attack a Sledge Hammer from the front. The tank gun can make short work of even the heaviest armor.

Sledge Hammer: 40' bus, x-hvy chassis, regular truck power plant w/ upgrades, 10 FP solid truck tires, driver & 4 gunners, 10 passengers, TG w/ 2 extra magazines (1 HESH, 1 APFSDS) F, 2 ACs (RF & LF), 2 pulse lasers in universal turret TB, laser battery, 4 HrSwcs, radar, tinted/no-paint windows, assault ramp, HD shocks, 6 10-pt FP wheel hubs, 6 10-pt FP wheelguards, Sloped FP Armor: F90, B60, RF45, RB45, LF45, LB45, TF30, TB30, UF20, UB20. Acceleration: 2.5/5, HC: 1, Top Speed: 130 mph, 25,150 lbs, $153,230.
Cargo Capacity: 1 space, 50 lbs.

BLASTKING
The BlastKing takes the basic design of the BlastLord and expands it to fill a 30' body. This gives it the room to carry two turrets instead of one. The armor layout is the same as on the BlastLord.

Cargo Capacity: 8 spaces, 255 lbs.

BLASTMASTER
The BlastMaster is the final vehicle in the Blast-Bus series from Blaster Motors. It uses the spacious body of a 40' bus to mount an incredible 5 (!!) blast cannons in the front of the vehicle. This awesome punch can destroy many smaller vehicles in one shot. Attacking the BlastMaster with anything less than a tank will just get the agressors killed very quickly.

BlastMaster: 40' bus, x-hvy chassis, regular truck power plant, 10 PR truck tires, driver & gunner, 5 BCs w/ HESH ammo linked F, 2 BCs w/ HESH ammo in universal turrets (1 TF, 1 TB), 3 linked SDs w/ incendiary spikes (1 RB, 1 LB, 1 B) linked to turret TB, 2 hi-res computers, smart link (front turret/front BCs), LD radio, 6 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F50, B50, RF50, RB50, LF50, LB50, TF50, TB50, UF20, UB20. Cargo Capacity: 13 spaces, 2,015 lbs.

LEAD SWARM
This Amex design is named for the blizzard of slugs that the HMGs can send flying in all directions. The LS has no room for passengers or cargo, so it is often employed as an escort.

Lead Swarm: Streamlined 40' bus, x-hvy chassis, regular truck power plant, 10 SBPR truck tires, driver & 2 gunners, 2 universal turrets (TF & TB) w/ 4 HMGs in each (all ammo is HD), BC (F), FCGS w/ 5 extra magazines B, 2 hi-res computers (1 for each gunner), vehicular computer (for driver), IR sighting system, improved fire extinguisher, extra driver controls, tool kit, 2 spare SBPR truck tires, HD shocks, HD brakes, tinted/no-paint windows, Sloped Armor: F66, B45, RF45, RB45, LF45, LB45, TF45, TB45, UF30, UB30. Acceleration: 2.5/5, HC: 1, Top Speed: 135 mph, 25,083 lbs, $135,454.

GUNTOTE
The Guntote is just that, a huge mobile gun carrier bristling with lethal firepower. A total of 9 VMGs and 2 turreted ACs make for a combination that is both accurate and deadly. This vehicle's moderate armor is made up for by the fact that the tires are fully-protected.

Guntote: 30' bus, x-hvy chassis, regular truck power plant, 10 PR truck tires, driver & 2 gunners, 2 universally-turreted ACs (TF & TB) w/ 1 extra magazine each, 9 VMGs (1 F, linked pairs RF, RB, LF, LB), HDFCE (B), 2 SDs w/ explosive spikes (1 RB, 1 LB) linked to HDFCE, 3 hi-res computers, IR sighting system, improved fire extinguisher, x-hvy QR hitch, HD shocks, tool kit, 10 pts CA on driver, 10 pts CA on each gunner, 10 pts CA on power plant, 10 pts CA on HDFCE, 6 10-pt wheel hubs, 6 10-pt wheelguards, Armor: F45, B40, RF30, RB30, LF30, LB30, TF30, TB30, UF30, UB30. Towing Capacity: 20,000 lbs.

CHARGING BULL
If you don't want to get smashed, stay away from the Charging Bull. It has very thick front armor and powerful front-mounted weaponry. Although the CB has no side-mounted weaponry, the twin turreted ACs will keep attackers away because of the risk to their top armor. Attacking from the rear is also out of the question because of the three MDs.

Charging Bull: Streamlined 40' bus, x-hvy chassis, regular truck power plant w/ upgrades, 10 solid truck tires, driver & 2 gunners, 2 linked BCs (F) w/ 1 extra magazine each, 2 turreted ACs w/ 1 extra magazine each (TF & TB), 3 linked MDs (RB, LB, B) w/ 1 extra magazine each (all mines are napalm), 2 MR smoke rockets B, 2 HrSwcs, vehicular computer, IR sighting system, improved fire extinguisher, tinted/no-paint windows, extra driver controls, 2-space crew lounge, HD shocks, HD brakes, x-hvy QR hitch, 2 pairs oversized vehicle airfoils, 2 spare solid tires, tool kit, tow bar, 10 pts armor on hitch, 6 10-pt wheel hubs, 6 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F90, B45, RF45, RB45, LF45, LB45, TF50, TB50, UF30, UB30. Towing capacity: 20,000 lbs.

HERMES
The Hermes is a well-armored, short-run passenger transport that costs less than some duelling cars. Its weaponry is light for a vehicle of its size. Therefore, it will have escorts or travel in numbers in rough areas of the country.

Acceleration: 2.5/5, HC: 1, Top Speed: 112.5 mph, 19,125 lbs, $69,820.

HEADSTRONG
The Headstrong is a design from Amex intended for drivers who don't like to stop for anything. A tank gun and a heavy ram plate will make short work of any vehicle stupid enough not to yield the right-of-way. Tailgaters must look to their tires as well as their handling as they try to avoid an unpleasant combination of ice and flung mines.

Headstrong: 40' bus, x-hvy chassis, medium power plant w/ upgrades, 10 PR truck tires, driver & 2 gunners, TG w/ extra magazine F, 2 VMGs w/ HD ammo in universal turret TF, 6 SAMs linked TB, HDID (B), 2 linked MFs corner-mounted RB & LB, 2 Swcs, IR sighting system, magazine switch, improved fire extinguisher, HD shocks, 10 pts CA on driver, 10 pts CA on each gunner, 6 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F60 (ram plate), B40, RF42, RB42, LF42, LB42, TF50, TB40, UF20, UB20. Acceleration: 2.5/5, HC: 1, Top Speed: 100 mph, 22,979 lbs, $99,122.

Option: Upgrade power plant to regular. Remove PCs & SCs. Upgrade tires to solid. TG magazine now loaded w/ APFSDS ammo. Remove VMGs and replace them w/ BC & extra magazine. Add 2 spare solid tires, bulk ammo box for BC, bulk ammo box for TG (standard rounds), 6 10-pt wheel hubs & 35 points of non-front armor. Top Speed: 122.5 mph, $119,862.

PRAIRIE SCHOONER
The Amex Prairie Schooner is a common sight on the mid-western bus routes. It can transport a total of 9 passengers in well-protected comfort. The turreted blast cannons are capable of shredding the thin top armor commonly found on most smaller vehicles.

Prairie Schooner: 40' bus, x-hvy chassis, regular truck power plant, 10 SBPR truck tires, driver & gunner, 9 passengers, VMG w/ explosive ammo F, 2 universally-turreted BCs w/ 1 extra magazine each (all ammo is HESH), FOJ w/ HT ammo B, bulk ammo box (BCs), 2 hi-res computers (gunners), vehicular computer (driver), IR sighting system, long-range radar, extra driver controls, tool kit, 2 spare SBPR tires, 2-space passenger lounge, tinted/no-paint windows, 2 pairs oversized vehicle airfoils, HD shocks, HD brakes, x-hvy QR hitch w/ 10 points armor, 6 10-pt wheel hubs, 6 10-pt wheelguards, Sloped Armor: F64, B45, RF45, RB45, LF45, LB45, TF45, TB45, UF30, UB30. Acceleration: 2.5/5, HC: 1, Top Speed: 122.5 mph (100 mph w/ fully-loaded trailer), 25,087 lbs, $133,466.
