AIRPLANES

When it comes to moving troops or ferrying cargo long distances, the vehicle of choice has been the airplane. Ever since World War I, the airplane has ruled the skies over the battlefield. Without some form of opposing AA defense, an aircraft pilot can do whatever he wants to anybody on the ground. Don't say you weren't warned.

DEATH EAGLE
The Death Eagle is produced by DKI/New Omaha under license from Wizard Works Aircraft in Colorado Springs. It is designed as a short-range N/AW interceptor with a secondary ground-attack mission. The Death Eagle's heavy composite armor and weapons package make tangling with it a losing proposition.

PEREGRINE
Wizard Works Aircraft recently introduced this design for pilots who are on a budget. The Peregrine is named for its blazing speed and for the power dives it makes when attacking an enemy. This aircraft's heavy armor and high speed are its major selling points.

Peregrine: Streamlined medium airplane w/ swept wings, small aircraft power plant w/ upgrades, airplane propellor w/ ducted cowling, retractable landing gear, pilot, 2 linked VMGs wing-mounted F, 2 3-space rocket EWPs (wing-mounted U) w/ jettison joints & 3 HRs in each, hi-res computer, radar, safety/ejection seat, 10 pts CA on pilot, Sloped Armor: F75, B55, R60, L60, T53, U60. Acceleration: 15, HC: 2, Top Speed: 620 mph, Stall Speed: 132.5 mph, 10,000 lbs, $60,790.

GYRFALCON
The Gyrfalcon is designed to operate in conjunction with the Peregrine. Its primary mission is to function as a light bomber. The variety of ammunition carried by the wing-mounted machineguns gives the pilot a high degree of tactical flexibility.

Gyrfalcon: Streamlined medium airplane w/ swept wings, small aircraft power plant w/ upgrades, airplane propellor w/ ducted cowling, retractable landing gear, pilot, 4 linked MGs w/ rotary magazines wing-mounted F (ammo is 1/2 HD & 1/2 explosive), 2 dual-weapon magazines w/ incendiary ammo & 2 magazine switches each (in wings), 2 3-space bomb racks w/ jettison joints & 3 100-lb cluster bombs in each (wing-mounted U), hi-res computer, radar, Armor: F65, B50, R55, L55, T49, U55. Exterior ordnance capacity: 1,000 lbs.

KILLER BOOMERANG
The Radius Motors Killer Boomerang is infamous for its bomb load. It was one of the first bombers able to carry five 1,000-lb bombs at once (this has since been exceeded by other designs). The fact that it is a parasite aircraft fitted with radarproof armor makes it almost impossible to detect. The Killer Boomerang is launched near its target by an airship. It then proceeds to make its bomb run. It has rocket boosters for escape and to gain altitude.

Killer Boomerang: Large cargo flying-wing microplane w/ improved tail assembly, small cycle power plant, 700-lb rocket booster B, landing skid, pilot, IrTl w/ Lgl in 0-space universal turret U, HrSwc, weapons timer, IR sighting system, radar, radar detector, radar jammer, LD radio, tow hook, STOL/heavy-lift wings, maneuver foils w/ 10 points RP armor, safety/ejection seat, RP Armor: 40 in all locations. Acceleration: 10 w/ HSRs, HC: 0, Top Speed: 30 mph+, 9,135 lbs, $73,220.
Payload Capacity: 25 spaces, 5,665 lbs.

HOBGOBLIN
The Radius Motors Hobgoblin is designed as a parasite jet fighter for defense of airships. This radical concept is modeled after the original XF-85 Goblin parasite fighter. The Hobgoblin is one of the strangest planes ever built. Its main problem is re-attaching back to the airship that launched it.

Hobgoblin: Small microplane w/ swept wings & improved tail assembly, 2-space HP jet engine w/ 15-gallon duelling tank, pilot, VMG (F), 2 RGMs (wing-mounted F), hi-res computer, radar, radar detector, radar jammer, tinted/no-paint windows, maneuver foils, tow hook (no landing gear), landing skid, FPRP Armor: F22, B22, R22, L22, T22, U22. "A" option: Replace VMG w/ afterburner. Armor is now 27 points in all locations. Top Speed: 1,090 mph. $169,313.

"B" option: As original, but replace RGMs w/ MGs. $117,933.

"C" option: As "A" option, but replace RGMs w/ MGs. $164,313.

GLOOMWING
The Gloomwing is a multi-role strike aircraft whose missions also include suppression of enemy air defenses, ECM operations and bombing runs. Although the Gloomwing is less heavily-armored than some other aircraft designs, attacking one is virtual suicide because of its heavy firepower and the fact that there usually are several escort aircraft in attendance .

Gloomwing: Streamlined cargo flying wing w/ swept wings & improved tail assembly, super aircraft power plant w/ upgrades, 2 airplane propellors w/ ducted cowlings & 10 pts FP armor on each, retractable landing gear, pilot & 2 gunners, 4 linked ACs w 1 extra magazine each (wing-mounted F), 2 HDCDs w/ 1 extra magazine each (wing-mounted B), 4-space sponson turret B w/ 4 HMGs (all ammo is proximity-fuzed explosive), 2 4-space universal turrets (TF & UB) w/ 2 pulse lasers in each, 2 laser batteries, 0-space universal turret UF w/ IrTl & Lgl, 3 hi-res computers, computer gunner w/ 2 software packages, bollix, radar, terrain-following radar, bomb bay, FP Armor: F58, B40, RF45, RB45, LF45, LB45, TF40, TB40, UF50, UB50. Acceleration: 10, HC: 0, Top Speed: 620 mph (565 mph fully-loaded), Stall Speed: 132.5 mph, 24,997 lbs, $366,375.
Bomb Load: 25 spaces, 5,003 lbs.
