Nuke-Con 2009
Report by

McMullen This
year held
promise to be a good year for a Car Wars event. Sadly, it was not to
be. This
was due to scheduling mix-ups as it was for Friday (10/02) by remained
listed for
Saturday (10/03). For next year the event will be on a Friday. I was surprised to see that
three
autoduelists from Minneapolis had come in for this event. Brian
Stassman, Mike
Miller, and Eric Odenius from the SPARK Autodueling chapter. They told
me about
their Car Wars events at GenCon, which got me thinking maybe it's time
NOVA
returned to that venue with some events, such as racing or Godzilla
takes
GenCon. It'll show that SJG's Car Wars is not a dead game. Now that
GenCon is
in Indianapolis the racing could be held using the Iowa City Speedway
map and
Godzilla replaced with Gamera. How would a group of duelists do battle
with a
flying turtle anyway? Another thought is running
another old
school game of Gamescience Starfleet Battles with individual ship to
ship
combat. A free-for-all with cruisers and what not. Such were the glory
days of
gaming. In other news Jada Diecast has put out a line of diecasts
called Battle
Machines. It involves Road Warrior/Death Race-type cars and trucks in
1/64 and
1/32 scales. For those looking for these miniatures to use in games
check out a
Walmart near you. |
