Division 5 Vehicles
Acupuncture
The Acupuncture was one of the first division 5 cars made by Metropolitan
motors after the merger. A tire shooter from the word go, the accurate
FG is made even more accurate by the electronics rare in division 5.
It's own tires, meanwhile are relatively well protected. A dangerous
car in its division (ID)
Acupuncture: Subcompact, extra-heavy chassis,
heavy suspension, small power plant, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 5-pt hubs front,
2 5-pt guards back. FG front. SD back. SWC from driver to FG.
Plastic armor: F11, L10, R10, B11, T1, U6. Accel. 5, top speed 90,
HC 4; 2,400 lbs., $4,839.
Firegoblin
Counting on the rarity of fireproofing system and extinguishers, even PFE's
or foam grenades in division 5, as well as the weak tires, Metropolitan
Motors created this sub. A risky proposition overall, lacking direct
fire weapons, it gets literally risky for the driver, as the Firegoblin is
in no way fireproof either. Besides the lack of direct fire, the most
glaring problem is the unprotected tires.
Firegoblin: Subcompact, extra-heavy chassis, heavy
suspension, small power plant, 4 PR tires, driver, FCE rear, spoiler
Armor: F15, L15, R15, B25, T2, U8. Accel. 5, top speed 90, HC 4/5 @
60+: 2,400 lbs, $4,605.
Mayfly
The standard version is emblematic of the new lines of thought in Metropolitan's
engineering, and is a popular first car, as it's inexpensive, but sporty,
and can take care of itself. It has also had some arena success.
The Sport and Outdoor models are made to race, and the Elite, appeals to more
advanced drivers trying to recapture their youth, and boasts very heavy armor
for a subcompact. (ID)
Mayfly: Subcompact, extra-heavy chassis, heavy
suspension, medium power plant, 4 PR tires, driver, MML front, 2 1-pt metal
hubs front, 2 1-pt metal guards back. Armor F18, L12, R12, B14, T1, U4. Accel
10, top speed 127.5, HC 4: 2,560 lbs., $4,571.
Mayfly Sport: replace MML with rollcage. Add HD
shocks, replace power plant w/200 CID engine, and add 5 gallon racing tank.
Total of 85 pts of armor. Top speed 115; $13,035.
Mayfly Outdoor: as Sport, but upgrade tires to
ORPR and suspension to OR. Remove 4 points of armor. HC 3 (OR 4) $14,201.
Mayfly Elite: Frame to CA. Replace medium power
plant w/200 CID engine and add 5 gallon dueling tank. Total armor 194 points.
Top speed 112.5; $14,984.
Slasher
A compromise between the other two division 5 tire killers from the same
company, the Slasher has the protected tires of the Acupuncture, but backs
it's armor with component armor, giving it better body defense like the Termite.
It also lacks the added accuracy of the Acupuncture, but could be modified
for such without bring it out of division. (ID)
Slasher: Subcompact, heavy chassis, heavy suspension,
small power plant, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 5-pt hubs front, 2 5-pt guards back.
FG front, 10 points of component armor for driver. Armor: F16, L12, R12, B13,
T1, U2. Accel. 5, top speed 90, HC 4; 2,400 lbs., $4,016
Superroach
Made for division 5 team duels, which usually lack the variation of the
higher division team duels, the Superroach has no direct fire weapons, but
good defense, with protected tires and thick armor, despite the fact the
car is smaller than most subs, and makes a miniscule target. (ID)
Superroach: Streamlined Subcompact, heavy chassis,
heavy suspension, small power plant w/SC, 4 PR tires, driver, 2 5-pt hubs
front, 2 5-pt guards back, 5 FcD (2 left, 2 right, 1 back) all linked (3 links).
Sloped armor: F23, L22, R22, B23, T8, U9. Accel. 5, top speed 102.5,
HC 4; 2,490 lbs., $4,995.
Termite
The top of the line (such as it is) in Metropolitan's division 5 tire shooters,
the Termite trades the accuracy and protected tires of the Acupuncture for
thick armor. (ID)
Termite: Subcompact, extra-heavy chassis, heavy
suspension, small power plant w/PC & SC, 4 HD tires, driver, FG front,
SD back Armor: F37, L25, R25, B37, T6, U6. Accel. 5, top speed 90, HC
4; 2,715 lbs., $4,996.
