Metropolitan Motors
Division 25 Vehicles
Chaser
Lots of armor and lots of speed make the Chaser one of the few compacts
that can compete in its high division. Still, like many defense-based
compacts, its offense is lacking. The more expensive, internal-combustion
Chaser G improves on almost all fronts, with slightly better weapons, much
better speed, and even thicker armor. Easily distinguished from the
front by counting the gun ports (two for the Chaser, one for the Chaser G)
from any other angle, look for the tubular headers on the side.
Chaser: Compact, extra-heavy chassus, heavy suspension,
sport power plant w/PC & SC, 4 solid tires, driver, 2 5-pt
wheel guards back, 2 5-pt wheel hubs front. 2 linked MGs front, HRSWC.
2 SkD (1F, 1 B). Armor: F50 L45 R45 B45 T10 U15. Accel 10, top
speed 157.7, HC 3; 4,440 lbs. $22,100.
Chaser G: replace PP w/250 CI engine w/BP &
TH, variable pitch turbo-supercharger, and 5 gal dueling tank. Replace
MG w/ RR add , 42 pts armor. Accel. 20, top speed 122.5, HC 3;
4,436 lbs $25,541
Cockroach
Fast, low slung and hard to hit, the Cockroach can win in its division with
a skilled driver willing to drive with a flair for dogfight tactics.
Its offense is unimpressive for a division 25 car, however, and this can be
a strong disadvantage. Accuracy make up for it to a certain degree,
and an unwary opponent could easily lose a tire.
Cockroach: Streamlined mid-sized, extra-heavy
chassis, heavy suspension, sport power plant w/ PC & SC, 4 solid tires,
driver, 2 10-pt. wheel hubs front, 2 10-pt wheel guards back, VMG front
10 SkD HRSWC 10 pts CA around driver. Sloped LR metal/plastic
armor F5/63, L5/21, R5/21, B5/23, T0/10, U0/15 Accel: 10, top
speed 147.5, HC 3; 5,754 lbs. $24,511.
Cruiser
The Cruiser is a rare breed these days, a true family car. It also
functions as in intracity courier (with over a quarter ton of cargo capacity)
or as a taxi-vehicle. In these fields, it is quite effective, though
in a straight-up duel, it can be at a disadvantage. It's only armament
is a single recoilless rifle.
Cruiser: Station wagon, extra-heavy chassis, heavy
suspension, sport power plant w/PC & SC, 4 solid tires, driver, 2 passengers,
2 10-pt hubs front, 2 10-pt guards back, airdam, RR in turret, HRSWC. Metal/plastic
armor F4/12, L4/12, R4/12, B4/12, T4/7, U0/10. Accel. 10, top speed 130/122.5
full load, HC 3/4 @ 60+; 6,010 lbs $24,150. Cargo capacity - 9 spaces, 590
lbs.
Dante
Depending on whom you ask, the Dante is either the low end of the luxury
duelers that is Metropolitan's specialty, or it is one of their convoy-duty
tail-end charlies. It's only direct fire weapon can only fire into the
back and side arc's. However, if it can get in front and stay in front,
is can cover the road in fire and make it very difficult to get through.
Dante: Luxury, extra-heavy chassis, heavy suspension,
super power plant w/PC & SC, 2 solid tires front, 2 SB solid tires back,
driver, 2 5-pt wheel hubs front, 2 10-pt wheel guards back, FT in turret,
HDFOJ left linked to HDFOJ right, MD back linked to HDFOJs, link - FT to
dropped weapons, IFE. Metal/FP plastic armor: F3/8 L6/8 R6/8 B6/8 T6/8
U0/6. Accel 5, top speed 112.5, HC 3; 6,595 lbs, $20,620.
Intruder
The Intruder from Metropolitan motors is built for survival. The carbon-aluminum
frame in this case was combined with rather light weaponry to allow a truly
startling amount of armor for a compact. While it's armor weight would
allow it to survive in division 25 arena duels, it is woefully undergunned,
having only a single (though strong) punch with direct fire weapons, after
which it relies only on explosive spikes. Despite its weak frame, it
has the armor weight to make ramming a vaguely possible. The Intruder
II solves this problem by sacrificing the SD. After the rockets are
gone, its offense is reduced, but is there.
Intruder: Compact w/CA frame, extra-heavy chassis,
heavy suspension, medium power plant w/PC & SC, 4 solid tires, driver,
2 10-pt wheel guards back, 2 10-pt wheel hubs front, 2 linked HR front w/LGL
to TL front, SD back w/explosive spikes. FP armor F82 L70 R70 B82 T25 U30.
Accel 5, top speed 95, HC 3 ;5 4,439 lbs., $23,584.
Intruder II: Replace TL & SD w/LL front. Remove
superconductors and 13 points of armor. Top speed 90; 4,406 lbs, $24,016.
Tomboy
Driven to victory in division 25 lower championships by Vanessa Whitcomb
among others, the Tomboy is a very effective rammer. The mass of the
vehicle and the twin, bumper-triggered rocket launchers make for a nasty impact.
However, most of the armor was piled on the front for a truly huge ramplate,
leaving the sides and back relatively under-protected. This and a lack
of dropped weapons are the only flaws of this vehicle. There was once
another version of this vehicle armed with a anti-tank gun loaded with APFSDS
ammo, which was discontinued and then later re-vamped and released under
the model name Metal Fist (See below)
Tomboy: Pickup, extra-heavy 6-wheel chassis, heavy
suspension, super power plant w/PC & SC, 6 SB solid tires, driver, 2
10-pt wheel hubs front, 2 10-pt wheel guards back, 2 linked RLs front w/bumper
trigger, ISC. LR metal/plastic armor F10/50(ramplate) L3/17 R3/17 B3/17 U1/15
T0/10. Accel 5, top speed 100, HC 2; 7,796 lbs., $23,137.
