Armageddon Arena
Denver, Colorado
by Mike Garrity and Norman McMullen
When the AADA eliminated the unlimited class dueling division a few years
ago there were disappointed duelists and fans. In 2038 a consortium of independent
businessmen and arena owners financed the construction of what is now known
as the Armageddon Arena. Only ground vehicles costing over $100,000 are allowed
to participate.
The Armageddon is not officially sanctioned by the AADA
due to the price requirement. However, the owners have started to allow limited
duels under $100,000. A $2,000 fee per vehicle is charged by the arena management.
In addition, on mondays and tuesdays, the arena is used by the military for
classified vehicle testing.
In 2048 the Armageddon started AADA divisional (5 - 100)
dueling on friday nights and applied to become an AADA arena. It was scheduled
to become an official AADA arena in 2051, but the AADA was shut down before
it could happen. Due to its location, the arena would've been part of Flashfire
Circuit.

Arena Notes:
The arena is fully enclosed. The outer walls are 60 feet high and have 200
DP. Inner walls are 30 feet high and have 100 DP. Each pillar stand 30 feet
in height and have 100 DP. The inner walls and pillars can be raised or lowered
3.75 feet (1/4" game scale) per turn. Grandstands along the arena perimeter
can hold 12,000 fans. Each gate is 15 feet high and has 20 DP and will open
when rammed.
Defenses:
All participating vehicles entering the arena have IFF systems. Any unauthorized
vehicle that enters, or when a duelist has his IFF system deactivated for
gross misconduct, is targeted by the arena defenses. In each corner there
is a 120 mm tank gun (for a total of eight guns).
Due to the high level of firepower involved in the unlimited
duels, the arena officials control the fate of missed shots by implanting
all weapons doing more than two dice of damage with disarming chips. Any
shot that misses its target is automatically disarmed before it hits the
an arena wall, the resulting inert shell/rocket/missile doing only one hit
of damage per die. However, all small bore weapons can't be modified.
