Amarillo Dueltrack
Amarillo, Texas
by Norman McMullen

As dueltracks became popular, the citizens of Amarillo decided to build a track of their own. It was not until 2043 that the AADA sanctioned the track. When that happened, the track became part of the Shooting Stars Racing Circuit and gained a level of popularity that continues to this day.
The Dueltrack offers racers and spectators some of the best BBQ in Texas. Some people come to the track just to have lunch at the BBQ Track & Grill, an on-site restaurant. The Dueltrack is closed only for Monday maintenance and a two-week period during Christmas.

Track Notes:
Outer walls are 15 feet high and have 150 DP. Inner walls are 2.5 feet high and are 75 DP. No dropped weapons are allowed. There are no banked curves in the track. The running length of the track is 1/4 of a mile. The Grandstands around the track hold 10,000 fans.

Race Schedule:
Monday - Closed
Tuesday - Practice Sessions
Wednesday - Time Trials
Thursday -  Mixed Races
Friday - Electric Races
Saturday - Special Events
Sunday - Gas Races

Events:
Electric Races - features all-electric powered cars. Sometimes referred to as 'toaster races'.

Tournaments - Amarillo hosts several tournaments throughout the year. The tournaments range from amateur, professional, regional, national, international, corporate, government, and college. Check the track schedule for further details.

BBQ - All racers can bring in flame-based weapons. This includes flamethrowers, fireball ammo for RLs, etc. This makes for an event filled with the potential of explosions and flaming debris as fire damage reaches gas tanks and engines. Usually held once a month, sometimes more if attendance gets low. Prestige is tripled for this event.

Gas - Held at least once a week to liven up the races. Crowds love to see these cars fly around the track, powered by fuel refined in their nation of Texas. Prestige is doubled.

Mixed - This event pits gas and electric cars against each other. Surprisingly, the gas cars win on a regular basis, but the electric cars have the advantage in much more durable power plants.
